  • On October 6, 2021, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the works of 'Gangajal Udvah Yojana'.

Key Points

  • In the review meeting, Secretary, Water Resources Department, Sanjeev Hans said that the work of the original plan will be completed by March 2022 and the target has been set to start the water distribution work by June 2022.
  • A total distance of 150 km from Hathidah-Mohanje-Tetar-Abgilla Of the pipeline of about 118 km Pipe laying has been completed.
  • It is to be known that 'Gangajal Udvah Yojana' is an ambitious scheme of the Government of Bihar, through which pure drinking water will be provided to the people of Rajgir, Gaya, Bodh Gaya and Nawada.

Appointment of Two New Judges in Patna High Court

Why in News

  • On October 6, 2021, the Union Law Ministry appointed Patna High Court Registrar General Navneet Kumar Pandey and Registrar Vigilance Sunil Kumar Panwar as judges of Patna High Court.

Key Points

  • At present, the total sanctioned strength of judges in the Patna High Court is 53, out of which only 19 judges, including the Chief Justice, were posted. With the appointment of two new judges, this number has now increased to 21.
  • Besides the appointment of two new judges, Justice Anant Manohar Badar of the Kerala High Court has been transferred to the Patna High Court, while Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah of the Patna High Court has been transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
  • The problem is increasing due to the increasing number of cases and shortage of judges in Patna High Court. Now the appointment of two new judges is likely to speed up the hearing.

State Human Rights Commission's Quarterly Magazine Released

Why in News

  • On October 6, 2021, Chairman of the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission Justice Gopal Krishna Vyas released the 'Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission's quarterly magazine' in the Commission's office located in the Government Secretariat.

Key Points

  • In this magazine, information related to human rights will be told in relation to the issuance of necessary orders and important instructions.
  • State Human Rights Commission member Mahesh Goyal launched the website of Human Rights Commission during the release of the magazine.
  • Commission Chairman Gopal Krishna Vyas said in relation to this website that poor people living in far-flung areas of the state will be able to get information about their case sitting at home and the complainants will not need to come to the Jaipur Headquarters to get information about the status in their case.
  • Goyal said that keeping in mind the problems of the common man, the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission is starting an online facility (case/complaint search) on the commission's website (rshrc.rajasthan.gov.in) from October 12 using which Details and status information related to various complaints filed with the Commission can be found.
  • The order related to the disposed (rejected) cases will also be able to be downloaded by the complainant/applicant sitting at his home.

Invest Rajasthan-2022

Why in News

  • On October 6, 2021 official sources in the state government said that in order to make Rajasthan a hub of investment and to invite new investors the State Government will organize the State Investor Summit 'Invest Rajasthan 2022' on January 20 and 21, 2022 at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC) in Sitapura, Jaipur.

Key Points

  • According to sources, investment related work will be done on the spot during this summit.
  • Before the summit, a delegation led by the Chief Minister, Industries Minister and ministers of other departments will contact investors from outside the country and then invite them to become partners in the development of Rajasthan.
  • Programs like virtual webinars, national and international road shows and discussions with diplomats from different countries will be organized from October 21, 2021 to connect with investors. Through these, Rajasthan will be presented as an investment destination.
  • Along with the Dubai Expo to be held in Dubai from 12 to 18 November by the state government for the successful conduct of the summit International road shows in the US, Germany, Singapore, South Korea, France and the UK and road shows in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad are also being planned.
  • In the last two and a half years, important work has been done in the direction of Ease of Doing Business by taking policy decisions like RIPS-2019, Solar Energy Policy, Wind and Hybrid Energy Policy, One Stop Shop System, MSME Act for the convenience of investors in Rajasthan.
  • Sources said that the Board of Investment, constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, has given approval to give customized incentives to investment proposals worth more than Rs 1 lakh 67 thousand crores. With the implementation of these proposals, about 40 thousand new jobs will be created in the state. Out of these 90 percent employment will be found in the field of renewable energy in the desert areas like Jalore, Jaisalmer and Barmer of the state.
  • Adani Green Energy, Renew Power, Greenko Energies and JSW Solar are investing about Rs. 1,64,540 crore in the state. This will create 37,000 jobs in the renewable energy sector.
  • Significantly, according to the recently released report by the Ministry of Renewable Energy, Government of India, Rajasthan has become the number one state in the country in installed solar power generation capacity. In the last eight months, 2348.47 MW of new solar power capacity has been installed in Rajasthan. During this period, a record investment of Rs. 10 thousand crores has been made in this sector. An ambitious target of producing 30 GW of solar power by 2024-25 has been set in the state.
  • The industrial infrastructure available here plays an important role in attracting investors in the state. At present there are 350 industrial areas in the state. 84 thousand acres of industrial land is available here. 150 more industrial parks will be set up in the coming time. There are 40 thousand operational units installed in the RIICO area.
  • The Dedicated Freight Corridor will pass through about 563 km. of the state. There will be a gas grid project in an area of 1730 km. There are 3 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) established in the state.

  • On October 6, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed virtually all land rights records to 1 lakh 71 thousand villagers of 3 thousand villages in 19 districts of Madhya Pradesh under the 'Swamitva Yojana'.

  • It is to be noted that this central scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj was launched at the national level by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on National Panchayati Raj Day, April 24, 2021, after the successful completion of the pilot phase (2020-2021) of the scheme in 9 states.
  • The goal of this scheme is to give ownership rights of residential land to the people in the villages of the country. This scheme will help towards making the villagers self-reliant. The scheme will pave the way for the villagers to use property as a financial resource for availing loans and other financial benefits, as in urban areas.
  • It aims to demarcate residential areas in rural areas through latest survey drone-technology.

Banning the Word 'Gorakh Dhandha'

  • Recently a notification has been issued by the state government to ban the use of the word 'Gorakh Dhandha' in any official communication in the state.

  • After this notification, now the use of this word in any official language, speech or in any context in the state has been completely banned.
  • A delegation of the Gorakhnath community had urged the Chief Minister to ban the use of the word 'Gorakh Dhandha', saying it hurts the sentiments of the followers of Sant Gorakhnath.
  • In August, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced a ban on the use of the commonly used term 'gorakh dhandha' to describe unethical practices.
  • Guru Gorakhnath or Gorakshanath Nath was a saint of Yogis. He traveled all over India and composed many texts. The temple of Gorakhnath ji is located in Gorakhpur city of Uttar Pradesh. This district is named Gorakhpur after Gorakhnath. The disciple of Gorakhnath was Baba Bhaironnath, who was killed by Mata Vaishnodevi.

Special Cell for Housing, House Repair Scheme

Why in News

  • On October 6, 2021, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that a separate cell would be constituted for redressal of grievances related to housing scheme and house repair scheme for persons belonging to scheduled caste category.

  • The Chief Minister said this while talking to the members of the State Working Committee of Haryana BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha at his residence.
  • Apart from this, the Chief Minister said that a separate portal would be created for these complaints and an officer would also be appointed for this.
  • He said that programs would be organized at the block level on his birth anniversary to take the ideology of famous persons to the people. For this, the state government has made a budget provision of Rs 10 crore under the Sant Mahapurush Vichar Samman and Prasar Yojana.
  • Regarding Lal Dora, he said that soon a registry scheme would be implemented in villages for the people living outside the Lal Dora area. He said that if needed, work should also be done through MGNREGA to improve the standards, so that people can live comfortably.

Jharkhand Gets Bronze Medal in 'Gatka' Championship

  • Recently Vinayak Vaibhav of Jharkhand won the bronze medal in the 5th All India Gatka Championship held at the National College of Physical Education, Patiala, Punjab.

  • Players from 23 states participated in the Sikh martial arts style 'Gatka' competition, out of which Vinayak Vaibhav of Jharkhand won the bronze medal.
  • The winners were felicitated by the President of 'Gatka Federation of India' Harcharan Singh Bhullar, General Secretary Baljinder Singh Toor and National Coordinator Dilip Singh.
  • On the other hand, the welcome ceremony of Vinayak Vaibhav and the entire team was organized by 'Jharkhand Gatka Association' at Nanhe Kadam Play School.
  • Gatka is a traditional martial art, historically related to Sikh Gurus. Gatka made its presence felt in the sports arena in the year 2008 with the establishment of 'Gatka Federation of India'. It has also been included in the 'Khelo India Youth Game' in the year 2021.

Cyber Forensic Labs in 6 Districts of the State

Why in News

  • According to the Information Technology and e-Governance Department of Jharkhand, a proposal has been prepared to set up cyber forensic laboratories in six districts of the state to tackle cyber crimes and to trace perpetrators of crimes against women using cyberspace.

Key Points

  • According to the Department of IT and e-Governance, these six cyber forensic laboratories will be set up at Deoghar, Jamshedpur, Jamtara, Palamu, Giridih and Dhanbad. Jamtara is known as the 'Cyber Crime Capital' of India.
  • For this the department will also sign an MoU with Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
  • These laboratories will be used by the police for forensic examination on various electronic devices like mobile phones and computers recovered from the crime scene and will help the law enforcement agency in solving cyber crimes as well as crimes of other nature.
  • According to Jharkhand Police, cyber criminals (mostly school dropouts residing in interior areas) use 'phishing' as one of the most effective ways to dupe people. Phishing is a process in which cyber criminals pose as trusted representatives of banks and finance companies over a phone call and ask for the personal banking details of their target.
  • In July, the Union Home Ministry had set up at least 18 cyber forensic laboratories across the country to fight cyber crime and crime against women with increasing use of cyberspace.

27 PSA Plants Inaugurated in 19 Districts of the State

Why in News

  • On October 6, 2021, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Health Minister Banna Gupta inaugurated various schemes and facilities of the Health Department including 27 PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) plants in 19 districts of the state. Along with this, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a PSA plant at Ranchi Sadar Hospital with a capacity to produce 100 liters of oxygen per minute and Cobas 6800 machine at RIMS, Ranchi.

Key Points

  • The Chief Minister and the Health Minister also inaugurated the Pediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU) online at Angara, Gondlipokar. This facility has been established in association with Yogda Satsang Society of India.
  • Arun Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department said that PSA plants have been inaugurated under the Prime Minister's Care Fund for the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 at 27 places in 19 districts of the state. At the same time, a Central Laboratory has been constructed in RIMS to provide all kinds of blood related facilities to the public.
  • He said that with the establishment of Cobas 6800 Lab, more than 1200 tests of RT PCR samples of Covid-19 will be done daily. Also, with the installation of 256 slices CT scan in the New Trauma Center, patients will be able to get high quality brain coronary angiography apart from scanning the analysis of lungs.
