Self-reliant Textile Policy, 2022-25
Why in News?
- On July 5, 2022, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that the state government will soon implement the 'Haryana Self-Reliant Textile Policy, 2022-25' in the state. This will give a boost to the textile industry in the state, as well as give a boost to MSMEs.
Key Points
- Dushyant Chautala said that while the state has secured the third position at the national level in the MSME sector, Haryana has got a place in the top achievers category in the fifth edition of 'State Ease of Doing Business' released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also honoured Haryana for its outstanding work done in the field of MSMEs.
- He said that it is because of the commitment of the Haryana government to provide a conducive ecosystem to the industries that Haryana has got excellent ranking in 'Ease of Doing Business', 'Ease of Logistics' and 'Export Readiness'.
- In addition, the State has got the first position in the Export Preparedness Index (Landlocked Category), 2021 and second in the 'Logistics ease Of Across The Different Status Survey, 2021'.
- Dushyant Chautala informed that the state government's Haryana Enterprise and Employment Policy, 2020, MSME Policy, 2019, Haryana Agri-Business and Food Processing Policy, 2018 etc. are some of the policies which have greatly benefited the MSMEs of the state and increased the employment opportunities for the youth.

Haryana Ranked 17th in 'State Ranking Index for NFSA'
Why in News?
- In the first edition of the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA' released on July 5, 2022, Haryana is ranked seventeenth in the entire country. Odisha is at the first position in this index.
Key Points
- Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles and Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal released the first edition of the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA'.
- Among the general category states, Odisha topped the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA' with a score of 0.836, while Uttar Pradesh is second with a score of 0.797 and Andhra Pradesh is third with a score of 0.794.
- Among the general category states, Haryana is ranked seventeenth with a score of 0.661 in the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA'.
- Among special category states/UTs, Tripura is at the first position with a score of 0.788, followed by Himachal Pradesh with a score of 0.758 and Sikkim third with a score of 0.710.
- Further, among the three union territories, where Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is cash driven, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu topped the list with a score of 0.802.
- This index attempts to document the status and progress of implementation of NFSA and various reform initiatives across the country in consultation with the states.
- It highlights the reforms undertaken by the States and Union Territories and creates a cross-learning environment and scale-up reform measures by all the States and Union Territories.
- The current index is largely focused on NFSA distribution and will include future buyouts, PMGKAY distributions.
- The index for ranking of States and UTs is built on three key pillars, which cover end-to-end implementation of NFSA through TPDS. These pillars are- i) NFSA- coverage, targeting and provisions of the Act, ii) delivery platforms, and iii) nutrition initiatives.
