On the occasion of Teacher's Day on September 5, 2022, President Draupadi Murmu honoured two teachers of Rajasthan with National Teacher Award-2022 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

  • It is worth noting that this year 46 teachers from across the country were selected for the National Teacher Award, including two teachers from Rajasthan, Durgaram Muwal and Sunita Gulati.
  • As a mark of respect to the teachers, a check of prize money of Rs 50,000 each, a silver medal, and a certificate were presented by the President.
  • Durgaram Muwal, a teacher of Pargiyapada School, a government upper primary school of Falasiya Panchayat Samiti of Udaipur district, started teaching children in the tribal school and went to the families of the children and made them aware to send them to school. Launched an awareness campaign against child labor in the village and went to many homes and instilled the spirit of education among the children. By collecting information about trafficking, he also did a commendable job of rescuing children from the clutches of traffickers.
  • Sunita Gulati, a teacher of the Government School for Deaf and Deaf in Bikaner district, was appointed in the school as a general teacher in the year 2017, after which she started working for the deaf and deaf children. She took training as a special teacher while living with the children and then got registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India. Prepared the deaf and deaf children for all kinds of difficulties, after which the children also won three awards in the National Level Science Competition.

State Level Teacher Award-2022

Why in News?

On the occasion of National Teacher's Day on September 5, 2022, during the State Level Teacher Award Ceremony organized at Birla Auditorium, Education Minister Dr. B. D. Kalla honoured 98 teachers in different categories with the State Level Teacher Award-2022 for doing better work in the field of education.

  • Along with this, the Education Minister also honoured 6 education officers of the state for their best performance in the district ranking.
  • Dr. Kalla also released an honour book for the introduction of respected teachers. Along with RKSMBK App was also launched. This app will be very useful for the students of class 3 to 8.
  • Additional Chief Secretary, Education Pawan Kumar Goel described the teachers as a source of inspiration and suggested judicious use of resources in education. In order to compensate for the learning loss during the Corona period in education, the Rajasthan Government's innovations have been described as an ambitious plan of the department.

Education Minister launches 'Mission Buniyaad'

Why in News?

On September 5, 2022, Education Minister Dr. B-D-Kalla launched 'Mission Buniyaad' for the school children of the state at Shiksha Sankul.

Key Points

  • Mission Buniyaad is a digital learning program. In this program, based on the understanding ability of each student, individual reading material is provided to him/her by the software, so that the children can make their own assessment.
  • The objective of this program is to enhance the learning capacity of the students, reduce the gender gap, reduce the drop out rate by strengthening the digital infrastructure.
  • Through this, about 20 lakh students of the state will be able to get high quality digital education.
  • Mission Buniyaad has been launched by the Government of Rajasthan in association with Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), Kaivalya Education Foundation (Piramal Foundation), GDI Partners and Convenience. According to the Kaivalya Education Foundation, this program is India's largest Personalized Adaptive Learning (P.A.L) programme.
  • The program was launched in December 2020 as a pilot project in 6 districts- Udaipur, Sirohi, Bhilwara, Sikar, Dholpur and Karauli. 24,360 students of classes 8 to 12 from these districts participated in the project and their learning ability increased by an average of 16 per cent.

Tribal Affairs Department's 'Champion 90' scheme launched

Why in News?

On September 5, 2022, Tribal Affairs Commissioner Sanjay Singh launched the 'Champion-90' scheme at Navodaya Government School, Katara Hills.

Key Points

  • Additional Director Scheduled Caste Development Sanjay Varshney said that through the 'Champion-90' scheme, systematic coaching with a vocational approach is being provided to SC-ST students of government schools.
  • In this residential coaching, along with the coaching of FIITJEE, teachers of English and Psychology subjects will also teach. Best arrangements will be made for food, accommodation and education of all the children.
  • Study kits and tablets were distributed by FIITJEE to 80 children selected by screening test for Champion-90 coaching on Teachers' Day.
  • It is noteworthy that the Tribal Affairs Department of Madhya Pradesh has started the 'Champion-90' initiative in association with private coaching institute FIITJEE. This institute will provide coaching facility with all modern facilities to these students from its CSR fund.
  • Along with this, a tablet will also be provided free of cost to every student for academic preparation. The tablet will be linked to the educational software of the coaching institute. In this, online education material will be available to the students. Along with this, other necessary educational books will also be provided to them.

Jharkhand's Shipra Mishra Honoured with 'National Teachers Award'

On the occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5, 2022, President Draupadi Murmu conferred the National Teacher Award-2022 to Shipra Mishra, teacher of Tata Workers Union Plus Two High School, Kadma, Jharkhand at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

  • On this occasion a video related to the innovation made by the teacher Shipra Mishra and her contribution in the educational development of the school was also displayed in Vigyan Bhawan.
  • Shipra Mishra, while teaching children in an innovative, creative way, made a difficult subject like science a subject of play for children. The complex chapters of mathematics and geometry were simplified by gardening and fencing of trees. Made the boundary wall of the garden located in the school premises from the used plastic bottle. Her different thinking, innovative idea led her to this point.
  • Shipra Mishra, who sees and understands science from a different point of view, used the digital platform well. Taught children to use mobile and worked to adjust Nature and science.
  • Shipra Mishra said that people use scan code, bar code, QR code only for payment, while it has wide dimensions. Shipra converted the mystery of the trees and plants in her school into a QR code. They made a QR code of detailed information of all the trees. Now any child can scan that QR code and get complete information about the tree like its secrets, properties, species, where it is found etc.
  • Similarly, she made different shapes of geometry, such as triangle, quadrilateral, hexagon, circle, to make different shapes interesting in the garden. Their QR codes were also made.
  • It is worth mentioning that Shipra Mishra has received many awards in the past as well. She has received Best Teacher Award from Rotary Club in the year 2017, Best Teacher Award from Inner Wheel Club, State Level Teacher Award in the year 2019 and Best Science Teachers Award by NML in 2020.

CM Launches 'Balwadi Yojana' in the State

Why in News?

On the occasion of Teacher's Day on September 5, 2022, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched 'Balwadi Yojana' in the state to develop the ability of children to learn and understand in sports and games according to the new education policy.

Key Points

  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched this scheme at the Chief Minister's residence with the theme of 'Jabo Balwadi Badhabo Shiksha ki Gaadi'.
  • The Balwadi scheme has been started by the School Education Department for the children in the age group of five to six years.
  • Through 'Balwadi Scheme’, children will be encouraged to learn and they can be prepared for the school environment. In addition to the Anganwadi assistant for the children, an assistant teacher of the affiliated primary school will also be posted in every Balwadi (kindergarten) and for this an additional honourarium of Rs 500 will be given to the assistant teacher every month.
  • Special training has been given to Anganwadi assistants and teachers to make teaching work to children in a playful and interesting manner. Approval of one lakh rupees has also been given for each Balwadi for child-friendly furniture, sports equipment and printing prints etc.
  • On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that scientists have found in their research that 85 percent of the development of the human brain takes place in childhood itself. What a child learns in his formative years helps him in school and later in life. Teaching should start only when the mind of the children is being prepared.
  • Informing about the scheme, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Alok Shukla said that this year 5173 balwadis have been started and in the coming years, balwadis will be opened in all the areas of the state in a phased manner.

60 Teachers Honoured at State-level Teachers' Felicitation Ceremony

Why in News?

On the occasion of Teacher's Day on September 5, 2022, 60 teachers were honoured at the state level Teacher Award Ceremony at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan. Out of these, 56 teachers were honoured with State Teacher Award, 2021 and 4 teachers were honoured with Memorial Award in the name of great litterateurs of the state.

  • In the ceremony, each of the 56 teachers selected for the State Teacher Award, was given an amount of Rs. 21 thousand and a citation.
  • Apart from this, 50 thousand rupees and citation were given to each teacher who was honoured with the award given in the memory of the great personalities of the state.

Cm Virtually Lays Foundation Stone of Institution of Excellence to be Built in the Capital

Why in News?

On the occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5, 2022, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel laid the virtual foundation stone of an institute of excellence with world-class facilities to be built in the capital to enhance the quality of school education in the state.

Key Points

  • A world-class educational institution will be established under the operation of Chhattisgarh Excellence School Society. For this, 20 acres of land has been allotted free of cost to the School Education Department by Nava Raipur Atal Municipal Development Authority in Sector-32 of Nava Raipur.
  • The Chief Minister will be the President of the Society of Excellence and the Minister of School Education will be its vice-president. Member secretary and seven other members have been appointed in the society.
  • A world class residential educational institution will be developed for a total of 700 students from class 6th to 12th.
  • The complex will be developed in two phases. In the first phase, academic building and laboratory, administrative building, dining hall, hostel, indoor sports complex, swimming pool, horse riding, playground, principal and vice principal bungalow etc. will be developed in the educational residential complex for a total of 200 students.
  • In the second phase, auditorium, hostel and staff quarters for boys and girls will be developed according to the full capacity of the school.
  • Administrative approval of Rs 49.52 crore has been given by the Society for the construction of the first phase of the Institute of Excellence Campus project. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the period of construction work of an institute of excellence has been kept for 12 months.
  • The students of Chhattisgarh will get world-class educational facilities from the ambitious project Institute of Excellence, being set up in Nava Raipur by the Chhattisgarh School of Excellence Society.

Chief Minister's Trophy to the Best Performing Schools and Prizes to Meritorious Students

Why in News?

On September 5, 2022, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami presented the Chief Minister's trophy to the best performing schools and rewarded the meritorious students in a function organized in the Chief Sevak Sadan on the occasion of Teacher's Day.

  • Chief Minister under 'Pt. Under Deendayal Upadhyaya Educational Excellence Award Scheme, awarded the trophy to IP Inter College Laksar Haridwar, Glorial HS Ddihat Pithoragarh, DNPSS School Bhatrouj Khan Almora at Intermediate level and Devbhoomi Children Academy HSS Sankla Rudraprayag, Gloria HS Ddihat School Pithoragarh and MD SP School Pithoragarh at High School level.
  • Diya Rajput of SVMIC Mayapur Haridwar, Anshul Bahuguna of SPVMIC Gopeshwar Chamoli, Sumit Singh Mehta of Vivekanand VMIC Madalsera Bageshwar and Darshit Chauhan of SVMIC Jaspur Udham Singh Nagar got the prize for the 12th examination of Uttarakhand Board.
  • At the high school level, Mukul Silswal of Subhash Inter College Tholdhar Tehri Garhwal, Ayush Awasthi of SSS Brahmkhal Uttarkashi, Ayush Juyal of Subhash Inter College Tholdhar Tehri and Rabina Koranga of Vivekananda VMIC Mandalsera Bageshwar were awarded.
  • On this occasion, Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that 22 thousand primary teachers would be given tablets to connect primary education through digital medium. Apart from this, one thousand science teachers will be given educational training at the National Institute of Science, Bangalore, so that students can be educated in the field of science in a better way.

'Balashray Yojana' for Orphans

Why in News?

On September 5, 2022, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government will start 'Balashray Yojna' for the education system of orphan children from class 1 to 12 in the state.

Key Points

  • Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement while rewarding teachers and meritorious students at a function organized at Mukhya Sevak Sadan on Teachers' Day.
  • Announcements made by the Chief Minister-
  • The Chief Minister said that free books, school dress, bags, shoes, socks and stationery would be given to the orphan children under the Balashraya Yojana, along with their education up to class 12th.
  • In the first phase, teacher;s residents will be built for teachers in 50 schools with high student strength in remote and inaccessible areas in the state. Based on the availability of land in government schools, playing fields will be prepared in the schools with the amount given to the panchayats.
  • Based on the availability of resources, integrated laboratories will be established in 100 schools at the high school level and laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, geography etc. in 100 schools at the intermediate level.
  • Under the PM Nutrition Scheme, more than six lakh students will now be given milk for two days instead of one day in a week.
  • For the food arrangements of the students in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Hostel and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Hostel, funds will be given at the rate of Rs.100 per day.
  • In addition to the amount to be given under the centrally funded scheme, the expenditure will be borne by the state government.
  • Like Kendriya Vidyalayas, arrangements will be made for thematic teachers at the local level to ensure that the education of children in schools is not affected during the long leave of teachers in the secondary schools of the state.
  • Suggestion cell will be constituted at the Directorate level to improve education.
  • The principal will have a provision of Rs 50,000.
