President of India inaugurates Sant Kabir Academy and Research Centre and Swadesh Darshan Yojana at Maghar

Why in News?

  • On June 5, 2022, President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Sant Kabir Academy and Research Centre and Swadesh Darshan Yojana at Maghar in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

Key Points

  • President Ram Nath Kovind is the second President to arrive at Maghar in Sant Kabir Nagar, before missile man A. P. J. Abdul Kalam came here as president.
  • It may be mentioned that Swadesh Darshan Yojana is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India in the year 2014-15 with the objective of integrated development of thematic tourism circuit.
  • The objective of the scheme is to promote, develop and exploit the potential of tourism in India.
  • Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to the State Governments, Union Territory Administrations for development of circuit infrastructure.

Creation of new sub-tehsil Abhaneri, respectively, in sub-tehsil Nirjharna and Bandikui tehsils

Why in News?

  • On June 5, 2022, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the proposal for upgradation of Nirjharana and Bandikui sub-tehsils of Dausa district into tehsils and to make Abhaneri a new sub-tehsil.

Key Points

  • It may be recalled that the Chief Minister in the Budget for the year 2022-23 had announced the expansion of administrative units in the state with a view to administrative strengthening. The Chief Minister has given this approval by relaxing the rules.
  • This decision of the Chief Minister will make it easier for the people to dispose of the revenue works at the local level itself.
  • The gradated tehsil Nirjharna will consist of 3 land records inspector circles and 10 patwar mandals and 43 revenue villages and bandikui will have 8 land records inspector circles, 26 patwar mandals and 123 revenue villages. Also, the new sub-tehsil Abhaneri is proposed to include 2 Land Records Inspector Circles, 6 Patwar Mandals and 23 Revenue Villages.
  • A day earlier on June 4, the Chief Minister had also approved a proposal to make Jaluki, Khareri, Gopalgarh and Khoh new sub-tehsils of Bharatpur district.
  • The new sub-tehsil Jaluki is proposed to include 2 Land Records Inspector Circle, 8 Patwar Mandal and 29 Revenue Villages and New Sub-Tehsil Khareri has 3 Land Records Inspector Circles, 12 Patwar Mandals and 50 Revenue Villages.
  • Similarly, in the new sub-tehsil Gopalgarh, it is proposed to include 4 Land Records Inspector Circle, 15 Patwar Mandal and 60 Revenue Villages and In New Sub-Tehsil Khoh, 5 Land Records Inspector Circles, 15 Patwar Mandals and 41 Revenue Villages.

Mansarovar Chowpatty gets 'Clean Street Food Hub' certificate from FSSAI

Why in News?

  • Recently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Government of India, has awarded the certificate of 'Clean Street Food Hub' to Mansarovar Chowpatty of Rajasthan Awasan Mandal.

Key Points

  • Arun Singhal, CEO, FSSAI has conferred the certificate on Mansarovar Chowpatty after being found to be meeting various standards and benchmarks.
  • The 'Clean Street Food Hub' tag is valid for two years and is given to eateries that meet the standards of a number of matters, including cooking and non-cooking areas, cleanliness and pest control.
  • According to FSSAI, street food joints have to meet at least 80% of the specified criteria to be rewarded with the tag.
  • It may be mentioned that this institution of the Government of India is the largest regulatory body to ensure food security and quality of food across the country.

Environment Mass Awakening Race organized

Why in News?

  • On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2022, an Environment Mass Awareness Run was organized in the morning from Albert Hall, Ramniwas Bagh in collaboration with Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Department of Environment and Climate Change and other departments.

Key Points

  • This year, the theme of World Environment Day, 2022 was 'Only One Earth' by the United Nations Environment Programme .
  • On the occasion, a special theme 'Ban on Single Use Plastic' was laid down by the State Government and various programmes related to environment protection were launched.
  • Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas released the 'State Climate Change Action Plan' on the occasion. The action plan has been prepared in a joint contract of the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Rajasthan, State Pollution Control Board and IIT Mumbai in compliance with the budget announcement of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
  • In addition, mobile vans used for air quality monitoring, vehicles used for e-waste collection and 'Run for Environment' for environmental awareness were flagged off.
  • The mobile vans will be functioning as a moving laboratory and, if required, can be operated temporarily at various places for a few days to measure the air quality there.
  • On the occasion of World Environment Day, public awareness about e-waste will be made aware about e-waste by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Rajasthan and Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board in association with Attero Recycling by conducting an awareness campaign for door-to-door e-waste collection. E-waste will be collected by Attero by going door-to-door in the city of Jaipur

State-level programme on the theme 'This Is One Earth'

Why in News?

  • On June 5, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed a state-level programme on the theme 'This is one earth' at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium on World Environment Day. All the districts were connected virtually to this programme.

Key Points

  • Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that all government offices have been instructed to reduce the consumption of electricity by 10 per cent, solar panels will be installed in government offices where solar energy can be used.
  • At the same time, the Chief Minister felicitated the institutions and citizens working for environment conservation and also released the book 'Conservation of Catchment of River Narmada- Plantation Campaign, 2022' of the concerned Forest Department, the scheme of tree plantation on the banks of river Narmada.
  • It is worth mentioning that World Environment Day is being celebrated as Tree Plantation Resolution Day. The Chief Minister said amarkantak will be declared as a reserve forest. Eco-sensitive and suitable species of plants will be planted according to the surroundings in place of eucalyptus trees planted around the origin of Narmada adverse to the local environment.
  • The Chief Minister made five resolutions to the citizens of the state on Environment Day, which include being active for tree plantation, saving electricity for energy conservation, pooling of vehicles to ensure frugal use of vehicles, adoption of public transport and observance of triple R i.e. refuge, reuse and recycle in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra.
  • The Chief Minister appealed to the general public to plant trees in every village, panchayat, development block, district headquarters on the day of Hariyali Amavasya to protect the environment.
  • It is known that so far 16 lakh 50 thousand saplings have been planted by the people of the state in the ankur campaign launched for tree plantation in the state.
  • The event included Bhopal Railway Station, Hydelberg Cement Damoh, Ipca Laboratories Ratlam, Neelam Welfare Society Shahdol, Police Training Centre, Indore, for the year 2020-21 under the Annual Environment Awards Scheme for outstanding work in the field of environment protection. Kamal Patel of Village Nawadpura of Nagar Parishad Piplia Mandi Mandsaur and Village Nawadapura of Dhar were felicitated.
  • In order to conserve the river Narmada, the forest department has set a target of planting one crore 32 lakh saplings in a total area of 18 thousand 406 hectares to convert the damaged forests into good forests in 33 forest divisions of 24 districts.

Khelo India Youth Games, 2021 launched in Panchkula

Why in News?

  • On June 4, 2022, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 4th edition of 'Khelo India Youth Games, 2021' at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula, Haryana.

Key Points

  • The Khelo India Youth Games, 2021 will be held in 5 cities (Panchkula, Shahabad, Ambala, Chandigarh and Delhi) till June 13, while Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex Panchkula is the main venue of these sports events.
  • More than 4,700 athletes, including 2,262 girls from 37 states and Union Territories of India, are participating in the event. There will be a total of 25 sports in these games, which include 5 indigenous sports of India - Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Gatka, Mallakhamb and Yogasana.
  • For the first time, five traditional sports, namely, Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Malkhamb and Yogasana have also been included in this prestigious competition.
  • For the first time in the Khelo India Games, Haryana also organized a statewide torch relay. The specially designed canter visited all the districts and promoted sports and encouraged children to take up sports.

Haryana gets Rs 2,366 crore worth of Development Project

Why in News?

  • On June 4, 2022, Union Home Minister Amit Shah gifted development projects worth Rs 2366 crore to Haryana.

Key Points

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Government Medical College to be built in Yamuna Nagar at a cost of about Rs 997 crore and Government Medical College, Kaithal at a cost of about Rs 945 crore.
  • In addition, he also laid the foundation stone for construction of water supply channel system for 2800 MW Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Project (Atomic Power Project) at Fatehabad district. The project will cost about Rs.394 crores.
  • Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the 2800 MW Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojna (Atomic Power Project) is an ambitious initiative of the Central Government. This will be haryana's first nuclear power plant. It will be based entirely on indigenous technology.
  • The plant will generate 2800 MW of power, out of which 1400 MW will be supplied to Haryana.
  • With the commissioning of this plant, power supply will be ensured not only to the people of this area but also to the people of the state. The areas around this plant will not only get employment, but also economic prosperity.

The state's first Well-equipped Resort

Why in News?

  • On June 4, 2022, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the state's first all-weather resort 'Limdarha Mid-Way' at Khale Murvend in Keshkal block of Kondagaon district .

Key Points

  • Built at a cost of Rs 7 crore, the Limdarha Mid-Way Resort is the first well-equipped resort in the state where national and international cuisines will be available.
  • At the same time, the Chief Minister announced to develop a game zone here on the suggestion of tourists. A cottage with a food chain as well as a toilet will also be built in the resort for tourists.
  • The Limdarha Mid-Way Resort is adjacent to the Keshkal Ghat, where 40 cottages are planned to be constructed in the next one or two years, while the convention hall for tourists will also be prepared in the next six months.
  • It is worth mentioning that Keshkal Ghat is the gateway to Bastar. It is famous for its winding roads.
