Mission Change

Why in News?

On 4 May 2023, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Prasad Yadav launched ‘Mission Parivartan’ on the lines of ‘Mission 60 Days’ to improve the health of all medical college hospitals.

Key Points:

  • The main objective of this mission is to make hospitals Patient-Friendly, to enforce discipline in colleges and to arrange treatment based on manpower.
  • Apart from this, this mission also includes cleanliness in medical colleges, and hospitals, waiting rooms for patients and relatives to sit, installation of signages, and the establishment of 'May I Help You' desks.
  • Along with the launching of the mission, the task has been given to the treatment in the medical colleges to make full use of the manpower available in the college.
  • The performance will have to be shown by improving the basic facilities of medical colleges. Medical colleges will be reviewed again in 1 month, so that it can be assessed how much change is visible in the direction of working style, system and treatment.
  • The Deputy Chief Minister has directed the colleges to ensure that evening rounds should be held every day and ward rounds should be conducted by a doctor at least of the rank of assistant professor.
  • 611 essential medicines should be available in all medical colleges so that the burden on the pocket of patients is reduced.

Important Approvals for Sports and Players in Rajasthan

Why in News?

On 4 May 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved a financial provision of Rs 22.68 crore for constructing an All-Weather Swimming Pool at the State Sports Institute in Jodhpur, a sports complex at Bharatpur and a stadium and sports hostel at Shahbad in Baran.

Key Points:

  • The construction work of Sports Complex Bharatpur will be done by RSRDC for Rs 7 crore. In addition, the construction of an all-weather swimming pool at the State Sports Institute in Jodhpur will be done for Rs 8.68 crore.
  • On the other hand, the construction work of Shahbad's stadium and sports hostel will be done by RSRDC for Rs 7 crore.
  • It is worth mentioning that the above announcements related to sports were made by the Chief Minister in the budget for the year 2023-24.

Important Decisions of the Council of Ministers Headed by the Chief Minister

Why in News?

On 4 May 2023, a meeting of the Council of Ministers was held in the Ministry under the chairmanship of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In which various important decisions were taken.

Key Points:

  • In the sequence of the Chief Minister's announcement, the cabinet approved the increase in the amount of assistance to well-meaning scholars, litterateurs/artists and their dependents by the Directorate of Culture under the Culture Department.
  • The monthly assistance amount per family artist/writer has been increased from Rs.1500 to Rs.5000. Along with this, on the death of the artist/writer, approval has been given to assist Rs 3500 to the family.
  • The cabinet has decided to implement a new state-funded scheme 'Formation and Promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO)' to encourage the formation of at least 2 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in each development block in the state.
  • In this scheme, such FPOs will be encouraged which have not been formed in collaboration with any other organization. Hand Holding will be provided to these FPOs. This will help the FPO members to use quality inputs, advanced agricultural machinery, and post-harvest techniques.
  • This scheme will be implemented in the entire state through the Director, Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development.
  • The cabinet approved the development, implementation and operation of the second phase of the e-municipality project 'e-municipality 2.0' to continue all the citizen services and departmental works being provided through the 'e-municipality portal' through digital means. The E-Municipality 2.0 portal will be developed in 2 years. It will be operated and maintained for 5 years. This project will be for 7 years.
  • The new system will include 16 modules and 24 citizen services. Project IT infrastructure and hardware will be based on cloud technology. The estimated expenditure on the entire project will be Rs 200 crore.
  • The cabinet has decided to execute O-M Agreement and to sign a CNS/ATM MoU to develop and operate the Datia airstrip on behalf of the State Government by the Airport Authority of India under the UDAN scheme.
  • In the first phase, air services will start on Datia-Bhopal and Datia-Khajuraho routes, due to which air services will be available for common citizens from Datia as well.
  • The cabinet approved the formation of a new subdivision Malhargarh in district Mandsaur. The cabinet approved the creation of a new subdivision Jaisinagar in district Sagar.
  • The cabinet approved the creation of a new tehsil Doraha in district Sehore.

14 Participants were Selected for National Science Exhibition

Why in News?

State-level science exhibition cum project competition was organized on 4 May 2023 at the Jharkhand Academic Council premises. In this, 14 participants were selected for the National Science Exhibition.

Key Points

  • Selected participants included Rajpriya Kumari (Ranchi), Sania Khatoon (Ranchi), Abhijit Sharan (Dhanbad), Yuvraj Das (Chatra), Mohd. Irshad Hussain (Dhanbad), Ayan Hasan (Dhanbad), Nandani Kumari (Godda), Vinita Kumari ( Hazaribagh), Arpita Kumari (Gumla), Sonakshi Kumari (Palamu), Jasmati Sundi (West Singhbhum), Samarth Pandey (East Singhbhum), Parvaj Asraf (Sahibganj), Deep Singh (Seraikela) etc.
  • It may be noted that 116 participants from across the state participated in this exhibition.
  • It was organized under the Inspire Award Scheme. A total of 28 thousand students had registered themselves under the Inspire Award Scheme. Out of these, the projects of 2082 students were selected by the Government of India. Ten thousand rupees were given by the Government of India to these students for making the project. Out of these 158 students were selected for the state level competition.
  • The National Science Exhibition will be held in Delhi next month.
