Godhan Nyaya Yojana
Why In News?
An amount of Rs 10.70 crore was released online to pastoralists, villagers, women groups associated with Godhan and Godhan Samitis under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana during a programme organized by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at Rajpur in Balrampur district on May 5, 2022 .
Key Point
- The Godhan Nyaya Yojana is a scheme under which cow dung is being procured at the rate of Rs.2 per kg in the gauthans of the State of Chhattisgarh.
- Large scale vermi-compost, super compost, super compost plus and other products are being prepared from the cow dung purchased under the scheme by women's groups in the gauthans, which are being provided at a concessional rate to various departments of the government and farmers through societies.
- Women's groups are making profit by making and selling cow cast, diyas, incense sticks, idols and other materials besides manure from cow dung. Apart from this, production of vegetables and mushrooms, poultry, goat, fisheries and animal husbandry as well as various other income-making activities are being carried out by the women's groups in the gauthans.
- Power generation from the purchased dung in the gauthans has already been started. MoU has been signed to make natural paints from cow dung, as well as gauthans are being developed as Rural Industrial Parks. Agriculture and forestry based processing units are being set up here at a rapid pace to promote income-oriented activities.
- The construction of gauthans in villages is being carried out at a rapid pace for the conservation and promotion of gauthans in the state. There is a better arrangement of livestock care, treatment and fodder and water free of cost in the gauthans. So far, construction of gauthans has been sanctioned in 10,622 villages in the state, out of which 8,397 are constructed and operated.
