Drug warehouses to come up in all districts of UP

Why In News?

Recently, the Director General of Medical Education (DGME) dr. N. C. Prajapati said that in order to ensure availability of medicines in every district of Uttar Pradesh, the concerned officials have been directed by the state government to set up drug warehouses in every district of the state.

Key Point

  • In this context , the Health Department has prepared an action plan under which 25 drug godowns will be inaugurated in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh - Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Gonda, Barabanki, Shahjahanpur, Auraiya, Farrukhabad and Sambhal in the next two years.
  • Dr. Prajapati said that the control of these drug godowns and the supply of medicines to these drug godowns will be done directly by the DG office at Lucknow.
  • This will ensure availability of medicines at the village level as well as ensure transparent distribution of medicines in primary health centres (PHCs).

E-learning parks to be started soon in uttar pradesh's degree colleges

Why In News?

Recently, Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that in a new initiative to promote innovation in higher education institutions, the Uttar Pradesh government is soon going to start e-learning parks in 120 degree colleges in the state.

Key Point

  • He said that the work of setting up of 87 e-learning parks in the state has already been completed and the work of the remaining parks will be completed in the next 100 days. These e-learning parks will be equipped with computers, internet connections and Wi-Fi with a digital library.
  • The ABACUS-UP portal will be launched in the next 100 days itself, through which various aspects of students and teachers will be connected.
  • The State-level Academic Bank of Credit is part of the ABACUS-UP portal NEP (New Education Policy). In this context, all higher education institutions under NEP-20 have been asked to upload the data of students and teachers on the ABACUS-UP portal.

Why In News?

On May 5, 2022, Hrithik Anand from Bihar has won a gold medal for India at the 24th Summer Deaf Badminton Olympics held in Brazil .

Key Point

  • Hrithik Anand has bagged the country's first gold medal in the team event of the 24th Summer Deaf Badminton Tournament held in Brazil.
  • It is worth mentioning that Hrithik Anand had won two silver medals in the Under-19 Boys' Double and Mixed Double at the World Deaf Badminton Championships, 2019 held in China.
  • The players selected for the 24th Summer Deaf Badminton Tournament by the All India Spot Council of the Deaf include Hrithik Anand, Rohit Bhaker, Abhinav, Aditya Yadav, Gouranshi, Jerlin and Shreya Singla.

Launch of New Silicosis Portal

Why In News?

On May 5, 2022, The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment of the State of Rajasthan Tikaram Julie launched the new Silicosis Portal, 2022.

Key Point

  • He informed that this auto approval based portal has been launched to provide financial assistance to silicosis victims under the Rajasthan Pneumoconiosis Policy in an orderly and easily manner.
  • Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Samit Sharma said that the portal has been first launched at pilot level in sriganganagar, hanumangarh, bikaner, churu, jaisalmer, tonk, dungarpur, banswara, chittorgarh and baran districts.
  • As soon as the certificate of silicosis disease is received through the new Silicosis portal, the assistance amount can now be directly transferred to the victims and their families through auto approval.

'e-Learning' Scheme

Why In News?

On May 5, 2022, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has launched the 'e-Learning' scheme from Rohtak district of the state.

Key Point

  • While launching the scheme, the Chief Minister distributed tablets to the students of government schools.
  • The tablet distribution ceremony has been held at 119 locations in the state.
  • He said the new education policy has set a target of 2030 to implement the scheme of imparting education by adopting technology across the country, while the Haryana government is determined to implement it by 2025.
  • Haryana is the first state to announce tablets for children of classes 9 to 12.
  • He said, Haryana spends the largest part of its budget on the education sector. In this year's budget alone, 20 thousand crore rupees are being spent on education.
  • Announcing on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the government is going to set up two task forces for the education sector. One task force will work in schools on other essential requirements including infrastructure, building, boundary walls, beauty, sanitation, pathways, water and toilets of schools, while the other task force will ensure the provision of furniture etc.

Seven daughters of Jharkhand selected for U-17 Women's FIFA World Cup, 2022

Why In News?

A press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat on May 5, 2022 stated that seven women players from Jharkhand have been selected among the 33 Indian players selected for training for the Under-17 Women's FIFA World Cup, 2022.

Key Point

  • The selected players include Anjali Munda, Salina Kumari, Sudha Ankita Tirkey, Astam Oraon, Purnima Kumari, Neetu Linda and Anita Kumari.
  • At present, all these players are undergoing training in the training camp held in Jamshedpur.
  • In view of the difficulties caused by COVID-19, these girls were provided with football kits and T-shirts from UNICEF by the Department of Sports to provide support to these girls.
  • It is worth mentioning that UNICEF has associated with it the selected players as champions of change for child rights. UNICEF had also trained them as technical support to the Government on issues such as child rights, adolescent girls' issues, need for proper nutrition, menstrual hygiene, mental health and psychosocial counselling, etc.

Godhan Nyaya Yojana

Why In News?

An amount of Rs 10.70 crore was released online to pastoralists, villagers, women groups associated with Godhan and Godhan Samitis under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana during a programme organized by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at Rajpur in Balrampur district on May 5, 2022 .

Key Point

  • The Godhan Nyaya Yojana is a scheme under which cow dung is being procured at the rate of Rs.2 per kg in the gauthans of the State of Chhattisgarh.
  • Large scale vermi-compost, super compost, super compost plus and other products are being prepared from the cow dung purchased under the scheme by women's groups in the gauthans, which are being provided at a concessional rate to various departments of the government and farmers through societies.
  • Women's groups are making profit by making and selling cow cast, diyas, incense sticks, idols and other materials besides manure from cow dung. Apart from this, production of vegetables and mushrooms, poultry, goat, fisheries and animal husbandry as well as various other income-making activities are being carried out by the women's groups in the gauthans.
  • Power generation from the purchased dung in the gauthans has already been started. MoU has been signed to make natural paints from cow dung, as well as gauthans are being developed as Rural Industrial Parks. Agriculture and forestry based processing units are being set up here at a rapid pace to promote income-oriented activities.
  • The construction of gauthans in villages is being carried out at a rapid pace for the conservation and promotion of gauthans in the state. There is a better arrangement of livestock care, treatment and fodder and water free of cost in the gauthans. So far, construction of gauthans has been sanctioned in 10,622 villages in the state, out of which 8,397 are constructed and operated.

Resolution of years-old dispute between Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand

Why In News?

On May 5, 2022, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a joint press conference and informed that the 21-year-old dispute of assets between the two states has finally been resolved.

Key Point

  • Under the solution, Alaknanda Hotel has been given to the Uttarakhand government and the Bhagirathi hotel has been given to the UP government.
  • It may be recalled that the Bhagirathi Tourist Accommodation Home has been constructed on the land given by the Uttarakhand government in lieu of the Alaknanda Hotel.
  • Built in Haridwar in 2964 square meters at a cost of Rs 43.26 crore, this Bhagirathi tourist accommodation home has 100 rooms.
  • It is worth mentioning that one of the many disputed properties between the two states was the Hotel Alaknanda. To address this, official level talks were initiated by the then Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
