MP's Solar Power Capacity increased 11 times

Why is News?

  • According to the information given by the Public Relations Department of Madhya Pradesh on September 4, 2023, as a result of continuous efforts in Madhya Pradesh, renewable energy capacity has increased by 11 times in the last decade. This is about 24 percent of the state's installed capacity.

Key Points:

  • According to the information, solar energy capacity in the state has increased by 52 percent. Currently, 1000 MW capacity solar parks are operational and 1778 MW parks will be operational soon.
  • Along with this, projects of 3350 MW capacity are in the initial stage of implementation. These include solar park projects of 1000 MW capacity (250 MW Mandsaur Solar Park and 750 MW Rewa Solar Park).
  • It is known that Rewa Mega Park has received many awards due to its innovative efforts. It achieved the lowest price rate of Rs 2.97 per unit. It has been honored with the President's Award of the World Bank.
  • Presently, solar power projects with 1778 MW capacity include 1500 MW Agra-Malwa, Shajapur and Neemuch Solar Parks and 500 MW Neemuch Park Project.
  • Future projects include a 600 MW floating solar park in the world's largest Omkareshwar reservoir. With this, full production will start by the end of the year.
  • Apart from this, 3350 MW capacity projects include 1400 MW Morena and 450 MW Chhatarpur Park and 1500 MW floating solar projects at Birsinghpur Reservoir, Indira Sagar Reservoir and Gandhisagar Reservoir.
  • Madhya Pradesh has ended the situation of power shortage and has come to a state of abundant power availability. In a short time, Madhya Pradesh is shining on the renewable energy map of India. With clear policies and strong leadership of the state government, Madhya Pradesh is moving towards becoming the main center of renewable energy in India.

Selection of 43 players from Madhya Pradesh in Asian Games-2022

Why is News?

  • According to the information given by the Public Relations Department of Madhya Pradesh on September 4, 2023, 43 players from Madhya Pradesh have been selected in the Indian team for the 19th Asian Games 2022 to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.

  • It is worth mentioning that the Asian Games 2022 was postponed due to COVID-19.
  • In the 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China, 19 players from Madhya Pradesh Sports Academy, 11 players from Madhya Pradesh (outside the academy), 3 players from Sports Authority of India (SAI), 7 former players of Madhya Pradesh Sports Academy and 3 players, who are associate members of the academy, are included in the Indian team.
  • M.P. selected for Asian Games Academy players: Madhya Pradesh Sports Academy has selected the highest number of water sports players in the Asian Games starting on September 23 in Hangzhou, China this year.
  • Keno Selalam: Shubham Kewat, Shikha Chauhan, Hitesh Kewat, Vishal Verma
  • Sailing: Neha Thakur, Sheetal Verma, Harshita Tomar
  • Kayaking-Canoeing: Arjun Singh, Neeraj Verma, Shivani Verma, Kaveri, O. Vineeta Devi, Prachi Yadav and Manisha Kaurav (both para canoe)
  • Rowing: Rukmani Dangi
  • Horse riding: Raju Singh and Sudipti Hajela
  • Shooting Event: Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Aashi Chowksey
  • Kapil Parmar of Madhya Pradesh Martial Arts Academy will represent India in Judo (blade judo category). Two associate members of the academy, Diksha and Sapna Barman, will be part of the Indian athletics contingent.
  • Players from Madhya Pradesh selected for Asian Games (from outside the academy)
  • Eleven players of Madhya Pradesh from outside the academy will represent India in the Asian Games to be held this year.
  • Addhet Patre (Swimming), Adhya Tiwari, Jai Meena, Tushita Sen and Aditya Dubey (all soft tennis), Ananjul Namdev and Rohit Yadav (Wushu), Damita Devi (Kayaking Canoeing), Rohini Kalam (G-Jutsu), Jyoti Chauhan ( Women's Football), Avesh Khan (Cricket) will represent the Indian contingent.
  • Sports Authority of India's Tulika and Avtar Singh (Judo) and Sonia Devi Pahirembam (Kayaking-Canoeing) have been selected.
  • Apart from this, seven former players of Madhya Pradesh Academy have also been selected in the Indian team. In these, Monika, Sushila Chanu, Ishika, Vishnu Devi in the women's hockey team and Vivek Sagar and Neelakanta Sharma in the men's hockey team will represent the Indian team in the Asian Games 2022.
