Greenfield Economic Corridor approved
Why In News?
Recently, the Union Ministry of Road and Transport has approved the Greenfield Economic Corridor to be built from Ghaziabad to Kanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Key Points
- This corridor is 380 km. long and will be ready by 2025. Once it is built, people from Ghaziabad, Hapur and large parts of western Uttar Pradesh will no longer need to travel on the Yamuna Expressway.
- This corridor will connect the Lucknow to Kanpur Expressway between Unnao and Kanpur, while connecting the existing Meerut Expressway in Ghaziabad and Hapur.
- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started work towards preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). This work will be completed by December 2023 and after that the project will be ready in 24 months.
- The project has been named Ghaziabad/Hapur-Kanpur/Unnao Greenfield Economic Corridor.
- NHAI officials say that the construction of Ganga Expressway from western Uttar Pradesh is also going to start, which will connect the expressway going to Lucknow in the middle, due to which a lot of traffic will go to the Ganga Expressway, so initially the four-lane between Ghaziabad-Kanpur. The same corridor is being built. Later it will be increased to eight lanes as the traffic increases.
- Significantly, the underpass, flyover and service road will be constructed on the lines of a six-lane greenfield corridor.
- With the construction of this corridor, the vehicular pressure on the roads of Ghaziabad and Noida will be reduced.
- It is noteworthy that the announcement of the construction of a new economic corridor from Hapur to Kanpur was made by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in September 2019.

'Operation Prahar'
Why In News?
Recently, in the report released by the Bihar Police Headquarters, it has been told that under the 'Operation Prahar' being conducted to arrest the violators of the prohibition law along with the accused involved in serious criminal incidents in the state, the police made 8,859 arrests in April.
Key Points
- Under this, the Anti-Liquor Task Force (ALTF) has recovered 1.59 lakh liters of liquor and arrested the people involved in it.
- On the orders of the Police Headquarters, 67 Vajra teams and platoons have been formed at the district level for the arrest of the accused involved in serious criminal incidents.
- Muzaffarpur district with 397 arrests was at the forefront of arrests by ALTF, Saran was second with 298 arrests and Motihari stood third with 294 arrests.
- Significantly, with the aim of making the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act more effective, it has been amended in March 2022, the main provisions of which are as follows-
- Under this amendment, while changing the basic law of 2016, a provision has been made to release it by paying a fine if caught while drinking. However, it shall not be the right of the accused to waive off the payment of the fine.
- Also, if any person is found to be under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants, he shall be immediately arrested and produced before the nearest Executive Magistrate.
- If the bulk recovery of liquor takes place from temporary premises which cannot be sealed, such premises may be demolished by order of the Collector.

The Chief Minister approved the proposal to open 3 new tehsils and 1 sub-tehsil in the state
Why In News?
On May 4, 2022, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the administrative proposals to open 3 new tehsils and 1 sub-tehsil for the expansion and strengthening of administrative units in the state.
Key Points
- As per the proposal, three new tehsils – Jhanwar, Kudi Bhagtasani and Ghantiali in Jodhpur and one new sub-tehsil Moongana will be created in Pratapgarh.
- Approval has been given for creation of new tehsil Jhanwar office and Patwar mandals, land records inspector circles in Jodhpur district. Jhanwar's jurisdiction includes 3 land records inspector circles, 14 patwar circles and 79 revenue villages.
- Approval has also been given to upgrade sub-tehsil of Jodhpur district Kudi Bhagtasani as new tehsil and sub-tehsil Ghantiali as new tehsil.
- Three land records inspector circles, 11 patwar circles and 24 revenue villages are being included in the jurisdiction of Kudi Bhagtasani. On the other hand, 5 land records inspector circles, 17 patwar circles and 46 revenue villages have been included under the jurisdiction of Ghantiali.
- Similarly, the Chief Minister has also approved the administrative proposal for creation of a new sub-tehsil Moongana in Pratapgarh district. Its jurisdiction will include 4 land records inspector circles (1 full and 3 partial), 9 patwar circles and 45 revenue villages.
- It is noteworthy that during the Finance and Appropriation Bill discussion during the budget session 2022-23 by the Chief Minister, the announcement of the creation of a new office was made in point number 86.

State's first aeroponic technology based lab to be built in Gwalior
Why In News?
On May 4, 2022, an aeroponic method for production of virus-free potato seeds was signed with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh in Delhi.
Key Points
- The Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has developed this unique technology of air potato seed production.
- This agreement has been signed to license this technology to the Horticulture Department of Madhya Pradesh. According to the contract, the state's first aeroponic technology based lab will be set up in Gwalior.
- Madhya Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Food Processing, Bharat Singh Kushwaha said that aeroponic technology will meet the requirement of potato seed to a great extent. This technology will play an effective role in doubling the income of the farmers.
- Significantly, Madhya Pradesh is the sixth largest producer of potato. Malwa region of the state plays an important role in potato production. Major potato growing areas in the state are Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Bhopal and other small areas of the state Chhindwara, Sidhi, Satna, Rewa, Rajgarh, Sagar, Damoh, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Panna, Morena, Chhatarpur, Vidisha, Ratlam. and Betul.
- State Horticulture Commissioner E. Ramesh Kumar said that Madhya Pradesh needs about 4 lakh tonnes of seeds, which will be met with this technology with a capacity to produce 10 lakh mini tubers. In Gwalior, potato crop has been selected in 'One District - One Product'.
- It is noteworthy that through aeroponic, the nutrients are sprayed into the roots in the form of misting. The upper part of the plant remains in the open air and light. An average of 35-60 minicands (3-10 grams) are obtained from one plant. Since the soil is not used, there are no diseases related to the soil.

Land will be available for 22 new sectors, four medical colleges and three women's hostels

Recently, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) has prepared an action plan to create 22 new sectors in 22 districts of the state along with giving land for four medical colleges and three women's hostels along with increasing its income.
Key Points
- After the development of these new sectors, people will not have to fight for good housing and they will be able to easily get plots in posh areas.
- The government has appointed District Land Acquisition Officers in five major districts of the state- Faridabad, Gurugram, Panchkula, Rohtak and Hisar to solve the problems being faced in land acquisition and compensation distribution.
- About 50 acres of land will also be made available by HSVP for four medical colleges to be set up at Panchkula, Fatehabad, Dadri and Palwal.
- Apart from this, HSVP plans to set up women's hostels in Bhiwani, Sirsa and Rewari. Land will be made available for this also.
- For online auction of commercial and residential sites in Gurugram and Hisar, the dates of 10th and 11th May have been fixed.
- HSVP Chief Administrator Ajit Balaji Joshi said that 13 online services of HSVP will be started on 22 May to increase the income of the authority and prepare a blueprint for providing maximum facilities to the people.
- Although many HSVP services are already online, they are being increased so that people can benefit from the comfort of their homes.

Country's first pilot project started for TB test report
Why In News?
On May 4, 2022, a pilot project for TB testing has been started in Hisar district of Haryana. This pilot project has been started for nine months.
Key Points
- Deputy CMO Dr. Anamika said that the main objective of this project, started for the first time in the country, is to quickly identify the patient.
- Now the test report of TB will not be available in 5 days, but in one day only, which will curb the infection.
- The IDDS agency has come up with this project and the US end organization is bearing the cost of the investigation.
- Earlier TB was tested, only 60 percent of the 100 people were caught. In such a situation, these people used to spread TB infection.
- IDDS Agency has tied up with Thyro Care Lab. Two organizations will conduct the survey in three and six months. After this the report will be sent to the government. If the report comes positive, then this project will be started across the country.

Radha of Mussoorie won the gold medal in 1500 meters race

In the Khelo India University Games, 2021 held in Bengaluru on May 3, 2022, 23-year-old Radha Singh from Mussoorie, Uttarakhand won the gold medal in the 1500 meters race.
Key Points
- Radha completed this race in 4 minutes 31 seconds and managed to win the gold medal on the basis of her brilliant performance.
- 23-year-old Radha Singh is a player of the excellence wing of Maharana Pratap Sports College. Even before this Radha has won two medals at the national level.
- Radha Singh's coach Anoop Bisht told that Radha got first position in 1500 meters race, while Sunita of Himachal got second and Huidrom Devi of Manipur got third place.
- It is noteworthy that the Khelo India University Games, 2021 was organized in Bangalore from April 24 to May 3, 2022.
- Khelo India Youth Games was started with the goal of encouraging young students to participate and play in various sporting events.
- The first edition of Khelo India Youth Games was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 31, 2018. In the year 2019, the name of Khelo India School Games was changed to 'Khelo India Youth Games'.
