Tableau of Uttar Pradesh Selected as Best Tableau

Why in News

On February 4, 2022, the results of the best tableau and best marching contingents for Republic Day 2022 were declared by the Ministry of Defense in which the tableau of Uttar Pradesh has been selected as the best tableau.

Key Points

  • It is noteworthy that this year 12 states/UTs participated in the parade on the occasion of Republic Day, in which the tableau based on the theme 'One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham' of Uttar Pradesh got the first place.
  • The second place went to Karnataka for the tableau based on the 'cradle of traditional handicraft'. Meghalaya got the third position for the tableau on 'Tribute to 50 years of Meghalaya State and Women-led Cooperative Societies and Self Help Groups (SHGs)'.
  • It may be mentioned that this was the first time that the general public was invited through the MyGov platform to vote for the best marching party and the best tableau in the popular choice category.
  • Kashi Vishwanath Temple is situated on the western bank of the Ganges River. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. This temple was renovated after 1780 AD by Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar. Also, in the year 2021, the Prime Minister inaugurated the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project.

Mahaveer Cancer Institute's Agreement with Indian Cancer Society

Why in News

On the occasion of World Cancer Day on 4th February, 2022, this institute has tied up with Indian Cancer Society to conduct early cancer screening at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, the largest cancer hospital in Northeast India located near Patna Junction.

  • Acharya Kishore Kunal, Secretary, Mahavir Mandir Trust Committee, inaugurated a free cancer counseling camp on the occasion. Specialist doctors of Mahaveer Cancer Institute will give free consultation in this camp till February 10, 2022.
  • Acharya Kishore Kunal told that on seeing the symptoms of cancer, examination of up to 25 thousand rupees will be done free of cost in Mahavir Karar Sansthan with the help of Cancer Committee of India.
  • Medical Superintendent Dr LV Singh informed that Mahavir Cancer Institute has also been awarded for implementing Ayushman Bharat scheme.
  • It is noteworthy that patients from neighboring states as well as Nepal and Bangladesh come to Mahaveer Cancer Institute for cancer treatment. This institute has become a center of faith for the poor cancer patients. The institute, started by the Dalai Lama in 1998, carries out chemotherapy and radiotherapy on an average of about 300 patients per day.

World Class Genomic Lab Inaugurated at Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center

On February 4, 2022, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey inaugurated the world-class genomic laboratory for cancer screening at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center, Muzaffarpur.

Key Points

  • The Health Minister said that from this year the program of cancer screening will be started in all the districts of the state. It may be mentioned that last year a cancer screening program was started in 16 districts of the state.
  • Day-care chemotherapy will be provided by the health department in six medical colleges and at the same time, treatment of pain caused to cancer patients will be made available at home in six districts.
  • It is to be known that till 2020, the annual burden of cancer patients in Bihar was two lakh, which will increase to 2 lakh 32 thousand annually by 2025.
  • Facilities have been made available at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center Muzaffarpur and Patna Medical College Hospital. Along with this, all facilities are being given to develop Mahaveer Cancer Institute in the private sector.
  • Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Pratyaya Amrit informed that in six districts of the state- Patna, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Siwan and Nalanda, the pain of cancer patients will be treated at home. Apart from this, day care chemotherapy has been arranged at NMCH, VIMS, Pawapuri, SKMCH, JLNMCH, DMCH and Purnea Sadar Hospital.

  • 57 NCC cadets of Rajasthan NCC Directorate participated in the Republic Day Parade Camp in Delhi from 17th December, 2021 to 29th January, 2022.
  • Rajasthan cadets have secured the third position in the RDC camp. Line area competition, flag area competition, drill competition and cultural competition were organized in the camp.
  • It is noteworthy that in order to showcase the cultural heritage of Rajasthan, the tourism department had helped the NCC cadets by providing information about the art, culture and heritage of Rajasthan. As a result, the cadets performed very well and secured 1st position in Flag Area Competition, 4th Position in Cultural Competition and 3rd position in RDC 2022 as a whole.

Medical Minister Inaugurated Oxygen Plant and Critical Care Unit

On February 4, 2022, Rajasthan's Medical Minister Parsadi Lal Meena inaugurated the Medical Oxygen Plant and Critical Care Unit at Maharaj Vinayak Global University, Kukas.

  • Medical Minister Meena said that the state is completely self-sufficient in the matter of oxygen. For adequate medical oxygen, arrangements have been made for 40 thousand concentrators, while more than 472 plants have been set up.
  • He said that the establishment of an oxygen plant by private organizations would work as a support for the state government.
  • The cost of an oxygen plant imported from Italy at Maharaj Vinayak Global University is about Rs 50 lakh. The specialty of this plant is that it can convert normal oxygen into medical oxygen.

Upgraded Version of Information and Public Relations Department's website Launched

On February 3, 2022, Director of Information and Public Relations Department of Rajasthan, Purushottam Sharma launched the upgraded version of the website of the department in the Directorate of Government Secretariat.

  • Director Purushottam Sharma informed that this is the first departmental website of the state to be upgraded by the Information and Technology Department through the Public Welfare Portal.
  • Along with making the website attractive, many new features have been added to it. Many information will be easily found on the main page of the website. Press releases will appear on the main page itself.
  • Facility has also been provided to see them according to the category of the department, district and specific person. Here you can see the schemes of the state government and schemes related to journalist welfare. Many information including latest audios, videos, photos, posters and advertisements are displayed on the main page itself.
  • The creator of the website of the Information and Public Relations Department and in-charge of Chief Minister's Office IT Cell said that the website has been connected to the Chief Minister's Information System. Apart from this, the main points of DIPR's budget announcement and public manifesto, CM directions and achievements have also been displayed on the website.
  • The portal has also been connected to the websites of all the districts through Jan Kalyan Portal. Now the press release issued by the Public Relations Officers of DIPR is also being displayed on the website of the district. Apart from this, all the state level and district level press releases can also be seen on the mobile app of Jan Kalyan Portal.
  • Websites of 33 districts have been created through Jan Kalyan Portal. The website of 'Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana' has also been created through Jan Kalyan Portal. DIPR is the first department whose website has also been created through Jan Kalyan Portal.

14th Meeting of Jharkhand State Wildlife Board

On February 3, 2022, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, presiding over the 14th meeting of the Jharkhand State Wildlife Board, discussed a total of nine agendas including the management plan of wildlife shelters, formulation of Jharkhand Wildlife Policy.

  • In the meeting, the management plan of wildlife shelters, formulation of Jharkhand Wildlife Policy, diagnosis of health problems of villagers of villages located inside wildlife sanctuaries of the state, extensive plantation along the banks of Ranchi-Jamshedpur NH, construction of Fossil Park in Sahibganj including work Other topics were discussed.
  • The Chief Minister ordered widening of the roads passing through the forest land including Palamu Tiger Reserve, Lawalong Wildlife Sanctuary, Gautam Buddha Wildlife Sanctuary, removing the obstacles in the construction of the bridge at the earliest.
  • He directed to constitute a committee for the widening of the National Highway passing through Koderma Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • The Chief Minister said that in compliance with the provisions of the Forest (Protection) Act, 1980 and the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, a provision has been made under the tourism policy to set up camps at various eco-friendly places. For this, public private partnership will be encouraged.
  • The tourism department will work with the forest and environment department to develop and improve wildlife parks/zoos, bird watch towers and other useful services for tourists. Wildlife sanctuaries and national parks will be integrated as an integral part of tourism.
  • The Chief Minister gave special instructions to the Forest Department regarding the construction of Fossil Park in Sahibganj. It is noteworthy that Fossil Park is under construction in Sahibganj. After its construction, tourists will be able to see fossils from hundreds of years ago. Along with this, the Forest Department is exploring the possibilities of Fossil Park at other places including the hills of Rajmahal.
  • Directing to pay special attention to wildlife, especially elephant corridors, the Chief Minister said that better underpasses should be constructed for them, so that wildlife can cross the road.

Freedom Fighter's Funeral After 109 Years

Why in News

On February 4, 2022, the ashes of freedom fighter Lagur Nagesia were cremated after 109 years at Samri in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh.

Key Points

  • Lagur Nagesia of Kusmi block of Rajendrapur in Balrampur district, along with Bigud (Bigu Bania) and Thithir Oraon, killed many people working for the British in the year 1913.
  • After this incident, Thithir Oraon was killed by the cavalry of the British Army and Bigur and Lagur were put to death in hot oil.
  • Of these, the skeleton of Lagur Nagesia was named after the teaching of science students at the then Edward School (the present Multipurpose School) of Ambikapur, which was kept there till now.
  • The story of freedom fighter Lagur-Bigur is still famous in Surguja region as Lagur farmer and Bigur Bania.
