Self-sustainable Model for Gaushalas
Why In News?
On January 4, 2023, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the presentation regarding the large cow shelter in Lucknow and told that there is a need to build an economy for running cow shelters, for which a self-sustainable model will be created.
Key Points
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that cow shelters should be constructed on PPP mode and at the same time they should be connected with natural farming, cow dung paint, CNG and CBG. This will make cow shelters financially strong and will be able to bear the expenses incurred on the maintenance and rearing of cows themselves.
- It is worth mentioning that a presentation was made before the Chief Minister regarding the construction of shelters with a capacity to hold two to three thousand bovines in the state. The Chief Minister said that MoU’s should be made with interested NGOs for running cow shelters and provide them with necessary arrangements.
- Yogi Adityanath said that the state government is constantly making efforts for animal promotion, conservation with a sense of service. Many schemes are being run by the government to encourage all the cattle farmers including cattle and the eligible people should be ensured to get the benefit.
- He said that destitute cow shelters, participation schemes and one cow scheme for malnourished families run by the state government are very effective in cow protection. These three schemes should be taken forward by running a campaign in the entire state.
- He said that under the participation scheme, farmers rearing destitute cows are being given Rs 900 per month per cow. They should be paid to the farmers after land verification.
- Breed improvement scheme should be expedited to increase milk production and control of destitute cattle. Under this scheme, cattle breeds can be improved by getting artificial insemination done in government veterinary hospitals. This will not only increase milk production but will also create a new breed of cattle.

On January 4, 2023, President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the 18th National Scouts and Guides Jamboree at Roht in Pali district of Rajasthan.

- The 18th National Scouts and Guides Jamboree was attended by more than 37,000 scouts and guides from different countries including India, Ghana, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal.
- Speaking at the event, President Draupadi Murmu said that there is a confluence of tremendous enthusiasm and energy in this conference of youth. This gathering of youth is a mini young India. Scouts work for humanity and social service with their whole heart and soul. It is a matter of pride that the largest number of scouts in the entire country are from the land of Rajasthan, symbolizing courage and valour.
- He informed that Bharat scouts and guides organization has been working to train the youth for about 115 years. Even before independence, many others, including Mahatma Gandhi, were admirers of this organization.
- The work that this country's largest organization does for character building is amazing. There are more than 63 lakh scouts and guides in this organization.
- Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that there are more than 12 lakh scouts and guides in the state. He has played an important role in Covid management by acting like a disciplined soldier.
- A Jamboree souvenir, special cover and Jamboree magazine were also released by President Draupadi Murmu on the occasion. A cultural program on the theme of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' was organized on the occasion.

DVC will Set up 2200 MW Solar Power Plant

According to information received from the media on January 4, 2023, Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) in Jharkhand will install a 2200 MW capacity solar power plant in its command area. These will be installed in different areas of the command area. Its DPR has also been prepared.

- DVC sources said that a floating solar plant of 2,000 MW will be installed here. For this, the DPR of the two thousand MW power scheme has been prepared and sent to the central government .
- Floating solar power plants of 600 MW capacity will be set up at Maithan, Tilaiya and Panchet Dam. Apart from this, a 200 MW capacity plant will be set up in Konar Dam. At the same time, a 200 MW solar plant will be installed in the field. It also includes a roof top.
- The study is being conducted in the command areas of Koderma, Maithan and DVC for 200 MW. The DPR will also be prepared soon. In the first phase, a site has been selected at Koderma for the 10 MW plant.
- According to the information, DVC is working on the solar plant as well as the hydel plant. A study has been conducted to set up a hydel plant in Luguburu, a holy place of Sarna devotees in Giridih. Here the plan for a pump storage hydel plant of 1500 MW capacity is underway. As soon as its DPR is prepared, it will be sent for the approval of the state and central government. After that, this scheme can be included in the next budget.
- It is noteworthy that this is the first dam and hydroelectric power station built by Tilaiya Dam DVC which has been built on the Barakar River. This dam is 1200 feet long and 99 feet high.
- Maithan Dam is located on the banks of the Barakar River. It is about 48 km from the coal town of Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. located far away. This dam with an underground power station is unique throughout South-East Asia.
- Panchet Dam is built on Damodar river in Panchet area of Dhanbad district in Jharkhand. It was inaugurated in the year 1959. Panchet Dam is the fourth of the 4 multi-purpose dams, which falls in the first phase of Damodar Valley Corporation.

State’s First Tunnel Parking to be Built in Kempty, Mussoorie

On January 4, 2023, Uttarakhand Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a review meeting with the officials of all the working institutions regarding tunnel parking, automated parking in Dehradun, informed that the state's first tunnel parking will be built in the Kempty area of Mussoorie. Its Detailed Project Report (DPR) was approved by the government.

- Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan said that this parking will be prepared by the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). Apart from this, five automated parking lots were approved in Haridwar under the joint auspices of Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) and NHIDCL. Their DPR will be prepared soon.
- Apart from this, the DPR of ten major parking projects in the state is in the final stage.
- A roadmap of 158 new parking lots has been prepared in the state. More than 10,000 vehicles can be parked in these. These include 50 surface parking, 88 multi-level car parking, nine automated and 12 tunnel parking.

- In this program, the Chief Minister honored the State level Vivekananda Youth Award for the excellent work done in 2021-22 by Yuvak and Mahila Mangal Dal’s. Yuvak Mangal Dal Mankatiya development block Moonakot Pithoragarh got the first prize, Yuvak Mangal Dal Dhura Nandanagar development block Ghat Chamoli second and Yuvak Mangal Dal Kheda jat development block Narsan Haridwar got the third prize.
