Livestock Minister Inaugurated the State's First Sheep - Goat Rearing Training Center

Why In News?

On November 2, 2023, Uttar Pradesh's Livestock Minister Dharampal Singh virtually inaugurated the state's first sheep-goat rearing training center built in Etawah in the Animal Husbandry Directorate. Along with this, he also inaugurated the training session at the centre.

Key Points:

  • On this occasion, Livestock Minister Dharampal Singh said that there are better possibilities of sheep and goat rearing in the state, which will help in doubling the income of farmers and cattle herders. Vocational training will be given to interested people in this centre.
  • In this centre, professional training will be provided to sheep and goat farmers in a scientific manner.
  • It may be noted that this training center was inaugurated on January 1, 2019 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Uma Bharti.

Families in the Annual Income Group of Rs 1.80 lakh to Rs 3 lakh Start Getting the Benefits of Ayushman/Chirayu Yojana .

Why In News?

On the occasion of Haryana Day on November 1, 2023, Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal gave a big gift to Antyodaya families by distributing cards in principle to the members of families of annual income group ranging from Rs 1.80 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. Started giving the benefit of Ayushman/Chirayu Scheme.

Key Points:

  • So far, 38,000 families had applied under the Ayushman/Chirayu scheme. From Haryana Day, all these families started getting the benefit of Ayushman/Chirayu Scheme.
  • In the meeting, Chief Minister Manohar Lal also inaugurated cashless health facility by giving gifts to the employees and pensioners of the state.
  • In the first phase, 894 employees of two departments namely Fisheries and Horticulture have been included and in the first phase, 1055 packages of diseases and 305 hospitals of Haryana have been included.
  • In the coming time, this cashless facility will also be implemented in other departments, which will benefit all the employees of the state. Apart from this, accredited journalists of the state will also be able to take advantage of the cashless facility.
  • Once fully implemented, about 3.5 lakh regular employees, 3 lakh pensioners and their 20 lakh dependents in Haryana will be able to avail cashless treatment in empanelled hospitals.
  • The Chief Minister said that a total of 1340 diseases have been covered in this scheme. This cashless facility can be availed in 569 listed hospitals in the state and in future, hospitals across the country will be connected to this scheme.

Four Policemen of the State Selected for DGP Uttam Seva Medal

 Why In News? 

On October 31, 2023, the police department selected the names of four policemen in the state for the DGP Uttam Seva Medal and the names of another policeman for the cash award . 

Key Points: 

  • Government spokesperson said that three types of state level awards have been approved by the state government to encourage the police personnel, which include Chief Minister Bravery Medal, Home Minister Excellent Investigation Medal and DGP Uttam Seva Medal.
  • The Chief Minister Bravery Medal winner will be awarded a reward of Rs 2 lakh, the Home Minister Excellent Investigation Medal winner will be awarded Rs 1 lakh and the DGP Uttam Seva Medal winner will be awarded Rs 50 thousand. Apart from this, the officers and policemen will also get a certificate/scroll signed by the Chief Minister and the Home Minister.
  • 4 policemen have been selected in Haryana state under DGP Uttam Seva Medal Winner, who will be honored with an amount of Rs 50 thousand. Along with this, another policeman will be honored with a cash amount of Rs 10,000.
  • The policemen selected for the DGP Uttam Seva Medal include Sub Inspector Pradeep Kumar, Head Constable Ankush, Inspector Ram Kumar and Sub-Inspector Ajab Singh. Whereas Sub-Inspector Shamsher Singh will be honored with a cash amount of Rs 10,000.
  • Pradeep Kumar, working as Sub Inspector in IG Traffic and Highway Karnal office, did many important tasks related to traffic management during his duty. Along with this, he also gave important support in the smooth conduct of various competitions organized in the state related to traffic.
  • Head Constable Ankush is being honored for his excellent services in Cyber Cell. Ankush demonstrated exemplary performance in better implementation of the action plan regarding cyber security. Along with this, Ankush gave cyber security training to more than 1600 teachers and students and more than 1250 police personnel.
  • Ram Kumar, currently working as Inspector in Hisar district, worked with many senior officers during his tenure and helped in solving many serious cases. Due to his hard work and dedication, he was also promoted to the post of Inspector.
  • Sub-Inspector Ajab Singh working in District Panchkula has always been very hardworking and dedicated towards his duty, due to which he was also promoted in the police department in the year 2017. His working system while on duty was very systematic and fair.
  • Shamsher Singh, currently serving as Sub-Inspector in Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, has performed well in many cases while establishing coordination with senior officers during his duty. Due to which they will be presented a cash amount of Rs 10,000 as reward.

Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy: India End League Stage at Number 1

Why In News?

On November 2, 2023, the Indian women's hockey team registered its fifth consecutive win by defeating Korea 5-0 in the ongoing Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy at The Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi and ended their campaign in the group stage by finishing number one in the points table.

Key Points:

  • For hosts India, Salima Tete scored in the sixth and 36th minutes, while Navneet Kaur also scored in the 36th minute. Apart from them, Vandana Kataria scored the team's fourth goal in the 49th minute, while Neha scored the fifth goal in the 60th minute.
  • Apart from India, teams from China, Japan and Korea also managed to make it to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, India will now face Korea, while Japan will face China.
  • Earlier, in the first match of the day, Malaysia defeated Thailand 2-0. For Malaysia, Noor Muhammad (25th minute) and Noor Yousseni (52nd) scored goals.
  • In the second match, China defeated Japan 1-0. China's lone goal was scored by Bingfeng Jiu in the eighth minute. China finished the league stage with nine points from five matches with three wins and two losses.
  • Thailand did not win a single match in five matches and lost in five.
  • Malaysia finished the league stage at number five with four points from five matches with one win, one draw and three losses. Malaysia and Thailand did not make it to the semi-finals and were eliminated.
  • A total of six teams participated in this tournament being played on the basis of round robin league stage. These included teams from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand besides hosts India. After the league stage, the top-4 teams of the points table qualified for the semi-finals.
  • India are looking for their first title since 2016, while the Indian team has won silver medals in 2013 and 2018.

Punjab-Haryana Court's Justice Ritu Bahri Recommended to be Made Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court

Why In News?

On November 2, 2023, the collegium headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court recommended Punjab-Haryana High Court Justice Ritu Bahri to be made the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. Justice Bahri will replace former Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi in the Uttarakhand High Court.

Key Points:

  • It may be noted that Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court Vipin Sanghi had retired on October 26. After this, senior High Court judge Manoj Kumar Tiwari has been made the acting Chief Justice of the High Court.
  • Justice Ritu Bahri is the first woman acting Chief Justice of the Punjab-Haryana High Court. He assumed the responsibility of Acting Chief Justice on October 14, 2023. Presently she is the second senior most judge of Punjab-Haryana High Court.
  • Justice Ritu Bahri's father Justice Amrit Lal Bahri has also been a judge in the Punjab-Haryana High Court. Justice Ritu Bahri started practicing law in the Punjab-Haryana High Court in 1986 and subsequently served in the Haryana Advocate General's Office. On August 16, 2010, he was appointed judge of the Punjab-Haryana High Court.
