- Jhansi, situated on the border of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, has been an important princely state of the Peshwas of Pune in northern India and a major stronghold of the First War of Independence of 1857.
- It is noteworthy that earlier in UP, the name of Mughalsarai railway station was renamed to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay station. Allahabad city has been named Prayagraj. Whereas Faizabad has been renamed Ayodhya.
