The State Mental Health Authority has been Constituted for the Care of Mental Patients

Why In News?

On July 3, 2023, Shubhra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health Department of Rajasthan, said that in compliance with the Mental Health Care Act-2017 and the State Mental Health Authority Rules-2018 for the care of mental patients in the state, the State Mental Health Authority has been constituted. A gazette notification has also been issued for this.

Key Points:

  • In the Mental Health Authority, Additional Chief Secretary has been designated as Chairman, Mission Director National Health Mission as Chief Executive Officer and Director Public Health as Member Secretary. Apart from these, there will be ex-officio and non-official members in this authority.
  • The Additional Chief Secretary informed that the state mental health related rules and bye-laws will be made soon by organizing a meeting of the Mental Health Authority. Along with this, mental health boards will also be constituted.
  • He said that the rules related to the rights of mental patients will also be decided in the meeting.

'Training of Trainer Self Defence Techniques for Women' Started at Police Academy

Why In News?

On July 3, 2023, Commissioner of Rajasthan School Education Council and State Project Director Shruti Bhardwaj, under the joint aegis of School Education Department and Rajasthan Police, conducted a 10-day special training course 'Training of Launched 'Trainer Self Defence Techniques for Women' at Rajasthan Police Academy, Shastri Nagar.

Key Points:

  • In the new academic session, girls in government schools of the state will be given special training for self-defense under the Rani Laxmibai Self-Defence Program. For this, a 10-day special training course has been started.
  • On this occasion, Shruti Bhardwaj said that under this program more than 20 lakh girls have been benefited in the state so far. In this special training at the state level, women trainers from the districts will be taught the nuances of self-defense, after which they will further teach the tricks of self-defense to girls studying in government schools.
  • Along with this, this Woman PTI will also be given detailed information about women's rights and laws so that they can make girls aware of their rights and laws.
