Sonipat will be the Fourth Police Commissionerate in Haryana

Why In News?

  • On November 2, 2022, a proposal has been sent to the Chief Minister regarding the appointment of Sonipat district as police Commissionerate by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Haryana. After the chief minister's approval, Sonipat district will become the fourth police Commissionerate in the state after Gurugram, Faridabad and Panchkula.

  • With Sonipat district becoming the police Commissionerate, an IG-rank officer will be the police commissioner and three police zones will be created.
  • In this proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs, all the 15 police stations in Sonipat district have been accommodated in three zones and all the police stations of GT Road - Gannaur, Badi, Murthal, Rai, Bahalgarh and Kundli will be included in the Eastern Police Zone, while in the Western Zone, thana City Sonipat, Sadar Sonipat, Civil Line, Sector-27 will be included in the Eastern Police Zone. and police station Kharkhoda will be involved. Apart from this, police station Mohana, City Gohana, Sadar Gohana and Police Station Baroda have been included in Gohana police zone.
  • These three zones will be headed by superintendent of police rank officers. The decision to create a police Commissionerate will strengthen the security arrangements of the district.
  • It is noteworthy that recently the foundation stone of Maruti's new factory in Sonipat district and the coach renewal factory of the railways have started.

Highest Unemployment Rate in Haryana

Why In News?

  • According to the data released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) recently, Haryana ranks first in the country in terms of unemployment rate.

Key Points

  • According to CMIE, the unemployment rate in rural areas in the country has increased compared to urban areas. In October, the unemployment rate in the country increased to 7.77 percent. Of this, unemployment was 7.21 percent in urban areas and 8.4 percent in rural areas.
  • Nine states in the country had higher unemployment than the national average. In Jharkhand, Bihar and Haryana, it is in double digits. It is in double digits in six out of 25 states.
  • Unseasonal rains in the country in the last six months, global political situation and fall in production due to rising interest rates are the main reasons for unemployment.
  • Bihar, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Telangana and Tripura have reported higher than the national average in October.
  • Haryana has an unemployment rate of 31.8 percent, followed by Rajasthan (30.7 percent), Jammu and Kashmir (22.4 percent), Jharkhand (16.5 percent) and Bihar (14.5 percent).
  • According to the data released by CMIE, the situation is better in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand in terms of unemployment rate. It is 4.2 percent in Uttar Pradesh, 6.7 percent in Delhi and 3.4 percent in Uttarakhand.
  • At the same time, Madhya Pradesh with the lowest unemployment rate of 0.8 percent and Chhattisgarh with 0.9 percent are at the bottom.
