Greenfield Airport in Lalitpur

Why in News

  • The cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on September 2, 2021 approved the construction of a greenfield airport in Lalitpur district on the Uttar Pradesh-Madhya Pradesh border.

Key Points

  • After the meeting, Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh said that the government has taken this decision in view of the Drug Park being set up in Lalitpur and the Defense Industrial Corridor being developed in Bundelkhand.
  • He said that there was an airstrip of the second World War era in Lalitpur, which would be developed as a green field airport.
  • In the first phase, this airport will be prepared for landing of small aircraft and later it will be developed as an international airport.
  • For the establishment of the airport in Lalitpur, a total of 91.773 hectares of land will be purchased from two villages there. The total cost of the land is Rs 86.65 crore.
  • The Defense Ministry has 12.79 hectares of land, which the state government will take for the project and in return the same amount of land of the village society will be given to the Defense Ministry.
  • It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced the construction of this greenfield airport during the launch of the Bandai Dam project in Lalitpur in March 2021.

MP Govt Implements 27% OBC Reservation

Why in News

  • On September 2, 2021, the General Administration Department of Madhya Pradesh issued orders to implement 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes.

Key Points

  • By the Madhya Pradesh Public Service (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Amendment Act, 2019, the reservation percentage for the Other Backward Classes in the process of direct recruitment in public services and posts has been increased from 14 to 27 percent, which is effective from 8 March, 2019.
  • Petitions have been filed in the High Court, Jabalpur challenging the increase in the reservation percentage of Other Backward Classes from 14 to 27 percent as provided in the said Order Amendment Act, 2019.
  • It is noteworthy that the total population of Other Backward Classes of Madhya Pradesh is more than 51 percent.
  • Legal opinion has been given by the Advocate General on August 25, 2021 in the prevailing cases regarding the said reservation of backward classes in the High Court, Jabalpur. He has given a clear opinion to take action in accordance with the provisions of 27 percent reservation for backward classes in all the examinations/recruitments except the cases mentioned in clause-5 of this legal opinion, MPPSC, medical education and recruitment of teachers.
  • Along with this, the state government has appointed Gaurishankar Bisen as the chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Commission.
  • Significantly, on August 15, 2021, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced the formation of Backward Classes Welfare Commission.

Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test (DMIT) Software

Why in News

  • On September 2, 2021, State's Olympic hockey player Vivek Sagar launched Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test (DMIT) software at Crisp Institute located in Shyamala Hills.

Key Points

  • The Central Center for Research and Industrial Staff Performance (CRISP) has developed this software, with the help of which personality-analysis can be done through fingerprints.
  • On this occasion, brain mapping of Vivek Sagar was also done through fingerprint. Also, the Crisp institute announced him as Sports Promotion Brand Ambassador.
  • Vivek said that the new Modern Scientific Technique (DMIT) prepared by Crisp Institute will now prove helpful in nurturing new talents in the state.
  • The (DMIT) software introduced by Crisp will enable to know about the interest and quality of the game of young children. This software will prove to be very helpful in talent search.
  • Dr. Sanskriti Mishra of Crisp said that Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Analysis is a science, in which fingerprints of hands are studied. Earlier this mode was used for criminology. Later it was used to identify physical and mental diseases.
  • Mrs. Mishra said that it has been found in the research that the kind of the shapes are on different parts of a person's brain, the exact same type of impression is available as fingerprints on a person's fingers, which is called the neuromagnetic effect.

Release of book 'Haryana Environment and Pollution Code'

Why in News

On September 2, 2021, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar released the book 'Haryana Environment and Pollution Code' compiled by former IAS officer and famous poet Dheera Khandelwal.

Key Points

  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister appreciated the working style of Dheera Khandelwal which reflects in the compilation of various laws and rules in the book as well.
  • Giving information about this book, Mrs Khandelwal said that the laws and rules related to environment and pollution of Haryana are scattered at different places, which have been collected at one place for easy understanding.
  • This book will prove useful for those entrepreneurs who were deprived of complete knowledge of laws and regulations related to the environment to set up new ventures. Students, legal researchers and doctors will also benefit from this book.
  • Earlier also in January 2021, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had released two poetry collections of Dheera Khandelwal 'Megh Mekhla' and 'Reshmi Rossian' in a program organized by Haryana Sahitya Akademi.

Launch of the Logo and Website of 'Investgarh-Chhattisgarh'

Why in News

  • On 2 September, 2021, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the logo and website of 'Investgarh-Chhattisgarh' while formally announcing the Global Investors' Meet 2022 at the inaugural function of 'Investgarh Chhattisgarh Project' held at his residence office.

Key Points

  • Representatives from different investor communities from countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, London, USA, Dubai, Egypt etc participated in the event through virtual medium.
  • To attract global investment in Chhattisgarh, Global Investors Meet 2022 'Investgarh Chhattisgarh' will be organized in Nava Raipur from January 27, 2022 to February 1, 2022.
  • It will be organized by Chhattisgarh Commerce and Industry Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and will be hosted by international level consultancy firm M/s Eduvision India Pvt Ltd under the brand name 'Vexpoindia'.
  • In the inaugural program of this project, Chhattisgarh government signed an MoU with 'VexpoIndia'. Under the MoU, the Chhattisgarh government will provide free space to 'VexpoIndia' in Nava Raipur to organize the Global Investors Meet, 2022.
  • A detailed project outline has been prepared by 'VexpoIndia' for organizing the 'Investgarh Chhattisgarh' programme. The entire cost of the project will be borne by the company through sponsors in collaboration with the government.
  • The total budget of this project is proposed to be around Rs 107 crore. Through this project, the target has been set to attract investment of 50 billion dollars in the state in a phased manner.
  • The Global Investors Meet will provide an opportunity to the world's leading investor communities, companies, business leaders, state government officials, local industrialists to gather on one platform and this will also help the state industrialists. This event will accelerate industrial development and create more employment opportunities in the state.

International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Award 2021

Why in News

  • Recently, IACP, an international policing organization based in the US, has announced the award of 'IACP Award 2021' to Korea district's SP Santosh Kumar Singh.

Key Points

  • This award will be given to Santosh Singh in the '40 under 40' category. It is given to such a police officer under the age of 40 of the world, who has tried to bring change in policing work with good leadership ability and new experiments and good work.
  • SP Santosh Kumar Singh has been selected on the basis of his assessment of the work done by him in the last 8 years in better policing and improving the image of the police. In the past, DIG EOW Arif Sheikh from Chhattisgarh has received this award.
  • This time 40 police officers from 6 countries of the world - USA, UAE, Canada, Australia, Korea and India will be honored with this award. It also includes the name of IPS Amit Kumar of Uttar Pradesh cadre from the country.
  • The IACP announces such awards every year at its annual function in the month of September. The award will be presented to the selected officers in October 2022 in Texas, USA.
  • The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is the world's largest and most influential professional association for police leaders, currently comprising more than 31,000 police officers from 165 countries around the world. It was established in the year 1893.
