Bal Seva Yojana

Why in News

  • Recently the Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved a proposal to provide monetary assistance of Rs. 2500 per month to the children orphaned due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
  • This monetary assistance will be provided under the Bal Seva Scheme.

Key Points

  • Children below the age of 18 years, who have lost either or both of their parents to COVID-19, will be eligible for getting monetary assistance under the scheme.
  • A maximum of two children per family can get the benefit of this scheme.
  • The scheme will be completely funded by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Under this scheme, those meritorious students are also included, who have attained the age of 23 years and have passed graduation, technical graduation or state and national level competitive examination after 12th from a government degree college and university.
