- On June 2, 2022, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to exempt the film 'Samrat Prithviraj' from tax in the state after attending the screening of this bollywood biopic.
Key Points
- The film is directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi and the role of Prithviraj has been played by actor Akshay Kumar.
- Prithviraj III, who was the king of the Chauhan dynasty, is called Prithviraj Chauhan.
- He ruled in 12th century from 1178 to 1192 AD. He ruled Ajmer and Delhi in central North India and his capital was located in Ajmer.
- In 2021, 16 rare coins from the reign of King Anangpal Dev, Raja Madanpal, Raja Chahra Rajdev, including Prithviraj Chauhan, were found in an archaeological site inspection at the ancient mound of Katha, a village adjacent to the Delhi-Saharanpur highway adjacent to Khekra in Baghpat district.
- In the first battle of Tarain, Prithviraj defeated Muhammad Ghori, but in the second battle of Tarain, Muhammad Ghori defeated Prithviraj.
- Prithviraj is credited with the construction of Fort Rai Pithora in Delhi.

GI Tag for Khurma, Tilkut and Balushahi of Bihar
Why in News?
- Recently, NABARD’s General Manager Dr. Sunil Kumar said NABARD will help Khurma, Tilkut and Balushahi in Bihar to get GI tag.
Key Points
- Dr. Sunil informed that after obtaining the details of the features and the source of these sweets by NABARD for getting the GI tag, the manufacturers will be asked to apply for GI tags.
- It may be recalled that in Bihar, Tilkut of Gaya, Balushahi of Sitamarhi and Khurma of Udwantnagar in Bhojpur district are very famous.

'Raj Skill, 2022' Competition
Why in News?
- On June 2, 2022, Ashok Chandna, Minister of State for Skill, Planning and Entrepreneurship, Rajasthan announced to organize a 'Raj Skill, 2022' competition on behalf of the Department of Skill, Planning and Entrepreneurship to make trainees more skilled by enhancing the spirit of competition among them.
Key Points
- The three-phase competition will be held separately for trainees of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and technically skilled non-ITI youth.
- Ashok Chandna informed that the most popular power manufacturers, fitter and diesel mechanics, copa and swing technology and dress making competitions in non-engineering occupations will be held in government and private industrial training institutes.
- Similarly, technically skilled non-ITI common youth will be provided a skill demonstration platform by conducting competition in parallel category.
- Under this, the participants who finish first, second and third in each profession of the State level participating trainees will be declared as state level winners and awarded to them.
- Dr. Arushi Malik informed that the participants participating at each level will be given certificates and prizes will be given to the participants who will come in the first four positions in the competition at the district level and the first three at the division level.

Rohtak PGI to become Centre of Excellence of Heart
Why in News?
- On June 2, 2022, the Director of PGIMS, Haryana State, Dr. S.S. Lohchab has announced to make PGI in Rohtak district a Centre of Excellence for Heart.
Key Points
- With the creation of PGI's Heart Centre of Excellence, the facility of treatment of all types of heart diseases will be available in one place.
- In this context, a blueprint of equipment, doctors, staff and other essentials is being prepared to provide all kinds of treatment to heart patients at the Heart Center of Excellence.
- At present, heart patients in the state have to travel to Chandigarh, Jaipur or Delhi for treatment.
- At the same time, the government will set up excellence centres in different medical colleges for other serious diseases so that patients can get better treatment for other diseases as well.
- The government's effort is to develop this institute as a super specialty of heart disease.

Why in News?
- On June 2, 2022, the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand K. Ravi Kumar finalised the outline of the Event Vehicle Management System App after discussions in a meeting with the office bearers concerned with the vehicle treasury.
Key Points
- The app will be used to create a database of vehicles used in elections and make quick payments for the acquired vehicles.
- The Chief Electoral Officer said that the app will be used in the upcoming elections, which will reduce the disputes related to payment of vehicles.
- Under this app, details of the type of the car, number, name of its owner and meter reading of the time-taking and releasing the vehicle including the use of the vehicle in the election will be available.

Azadi se Antyodaya Special Campaign
Why in News?
- On June 2, 2022, under the guidance of Taran Prakash Sinha, Collector of Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, a special camp for divyang people was organized under the special campaign from Independence to Antyodaya (Azadi se Antyodaya) to commemorate the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Key Points
- In this camp, unique identity cards of divyang person, UDID cards and medical certificates were made.
- It may be recalled that the Azadi Se Antyodaya Abhiyan was launched in April, 2022 by Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
- The 90-day campaign, which is part of the year-long celebrations of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aims to reach out to the benefit schemes of the Central Ministries to the lowest level of the people in 75 districts of 28 States and Union Territories.
- These districts are associated with the birthplace of 99 self-styled fighters who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.
- The campaign will cover all rural stakeholders, such as families of freedom fighters, Panchayati Raj Institutions, women and youth groups and students.

Yellow Alert of Heat Wave Issued in Uttarakhand
Why in News?
- On June 2, 2022, the maximum temperature of Dehradun was recorded at 41.1 degrees Celsius, in view of which the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the heat wave in the valley areas of Garhwal division.
Key Points
- Dehradun's temperature reached 41.1 degrees Celsius, breaking the record of the last ten years, as this is the first time since the maximum temperature of June 2012 was 42.2 degrees Celsius, when the temperature has reached 41 degrees Celsius.
- Doon's record of the highest temperature so far is 43.9 degrees Celsius, which was recorded on June 4, 1902.
- Significantly, the summer wave is a condition of abnormally high temperatures in which the temperature remains higher than normal and mainly affects the northwestern parts of the country.
- In India, the summer wave usually lasts between March-June, but sometimes even till July.
- The Indian Meteorological Department has fixed the temperature at 40 degrees Celsius in plains and 30 degrees Celsius in hilly areas as the standard of summer wave. Where the normal temperature remains below 40°C, there are normal when the temperature rises from 5 to 6°C and severe summer wave events when the temperature increases above 7°C.
