Ranipur Tiger Reserve

Why In News?

  • On October 31, 2022, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav told through a tweet that another tiger reserve in Uttar Pradesh, Ranipur Tiger Reserve has become the 53rd tiger reserve in India.

Key Points

  • Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav has told that this reserve in Uttar Pradesh is located in Ranipur of Chitrakoot district, which covers an area of 529.36 sq.km. spread over the area. 230.32 sq. km. Core area and 299.05 sq.km. This tiger reserve with a buffer zone will strengthen the efforts of tiger conservation. Apart from this, about 300 sq.km. area is being added to it.
  • This will also increase the number of tigers in the state, which will also boost eco-tourism in Bundelkhand region. There will be economic, social and cultural development of this region and apart from this, the natural environment will be better protected. This tiger reserve will also provide new employment opportunities to the local people in Bundelkhand.
  • Ranipur Tiger Reserve located in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh is located at a just 150 km distance from Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. Tiger, leopard, bear, sambar, spotted deer, chinkara and many birds and reptiles are found in this reserve.
  • It is currently the fourth tiger reserve in Uttar Pradesh after Dudhwa, Pilibhit and Amangarh and the latest tiger census in India was done in 2018, according to which there are 2967 tigers in the country and 173 of them are in Uttar Pradesh.
  • It is noteworthy that in the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath, approval was given to develop Ranipur Tiger Reserve last month. It was told in this meeting that due to waterlogging in Panna Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh as a result of Ken-Betwa link project, the tigers here will come towards Chitrakoot, due to which the government is going to build a tiger reserve here.
  • Bhupendra Yadav said that after the Ranipur Tiger Reserve was notified, it was part of the Project Tiger of the Government of India. Under this scheme, the central government will give 60 percent and the state government 40 percent in some items. In other items, the central and state governments will provide 50-50 percent of the funds.

Rajasthan Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Act, 2022

Why In News?

  • The notification of the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Act, 2022 has been issued on October 31, 2022. In pursuance of this notification, the existing sub-section (7-A) of section 28 of the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies Act, 2001 (Act No. 16 of 2002) stands omitted.

Key Points

  • With the clause removed in the notification, any person can now be elected to the Board of Directors for more than two consecutive terms. This will strengthen the democratic system in cooperatives.
  • It is known that on September 20, 2022, the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly passed the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022 by voice vote.
  • In the Bill, sub-section (7-A) of section 28 of the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies Act, 2001 was removed with a view to ensure the participation of long-serving and experienced members for the efficient working of cooperative societies.
  • It may be mentioned that the existing sub-section (7-A) of section 28 of the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies Act, 2001 (Act No. 16 of 2002) provided that no person shall be eligible for election as a member of the society, if he has been elected or co-opted as a member of the society of the same society for two consecutive terms after the commencement of the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act No. 11 of 2016), unless such A period of five years has not elapsed from the date of expiry of his second term as a member of the Committee.

Bhopal Milk Union got A+ Grade

Why In News?

  • On October 31, 2022, the Chief Executive Officer of Bhopal Cooperative Milk Federation RPS. Tiwari informed that Bhopal Cooperative Milk Union has been awarded A+ grade by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) with 101 marks on the basis of various parameters.

Key Points

  • R.P.S. Tiwari said that any milk union in the state has got so many marks for the first time. Last year too, the milk union got A+ grade with 96 marks.
  • Bhopal Cooperative Milk Union has been given 101 marks out of 106 on the basis of various parameters. For A+ grade, 95-106 marks category is fixed for best performance.
  • It is noteworthy that Bhopal Milk Union has received this issue in all dimensions in cleanliness, staff rich in experience and technical knowledge, better management of milk and milk products, temperature measurement of cold storage every 2 hours, plastic strap curtain at door, double door sledding etc.

State Finance Commission Launched Web Portal and Mobile App

Why In News?

  • On October 31, 2022, the Chhattisgarh State Finance Commission launched a web portal and mobile app to provide easy information from gram panchayats.

Key Points

  • In order to prepare its recommendations on the basis of sufficient data and to get information from Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies, the commission has prepared web portal SFC-eInfo and mobile app.
  • The information of each panchayat will be easily available from the web portal and mobile app prepared by the commission. A huge database will be prepared from the information received from 11 thousand 664 panchayats. Which can be used at different levels of government.
  • It is noteworthy that the State Finance Commission is constituted every 5 years to strengthen the economic condition of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies.

Contract Between 'Namami Gange' and Patanjali

Why In News?

  • On October 31, 2022, on the occasion of natural farming program organized by Patanjali Organic Research Institute and National Mission for Clean Ganga in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, a contract was signed between 'Namami Gange' and Patanjali to increase the income of farmers from natural farming.

Key Points

  • It is noteworthy that Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, DG Namami Gange Ashok Kumar jointly inaugurated the Natural Farming Program at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar and on this occasion the Union Minister inaugurated Natural Farming in Ganga Basin. He also released the book Reason (Perspective and Solution).
  • Apart from this, the first 20 children participating in Ganga Run were also awarded certificates and prizes.
  • On this occasion, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the MoU signed between Patanjali Research Center and National Mission of Clean Ganga is a historic occasion.
  • It is known that Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna have established Yoga and Ayurveda in the world and today there is no field which has remained untouched by Patanjali.
  • On this occasion, Acharya Balkrishna said that around 3.60 lakh vegetation is found all over the world and about 20 thousand types of vegetation are found in India and thousands of species are found on the banks of Ganga.
  • He told that before doing natural farming, there is a need to think about what to cultivate and where to do which farming, farmers can get more profit.
