Important Decisions of Madhya Pradesh Council of Ministers

Why In News?

  • On August 30, 2022, in the meeting of the State Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with the ratification of the formation of Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission, many other important decisions were taken.

Key Points

  • The Council of Ministers approved the formation of Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission with the aim of providing facilities to every citizen of the state to lead a healthy lifestyle and healthy life.
    • The commission will conduct its activities through Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Sansthan. The administrative department of Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission will be the School Education Department.
    • In the commission, non-government persons working in the field of yoga nominated by the state government and making very special contributions will be the chairman.
    • Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Sansthan will be the chairman (ex-officio) of yoga as vice-chairman of the commission. 5 persons with experience in the field of yoga nominated by the state government will remain as non-government members. The director of Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Sansthan will act as ex-officio secretary.
    • The Yoga Commission will be registered under the Societies Act. Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education, AYUSH, Medical Education, Social Justice, Sports and Youth Welfare, Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Development and Backward Classes Minority Welfare Department will be government members.
    • The term of the non-official members will be 5 years.
  • Considering it a special case, the Cabinet decided to give Rs 10 lakh as incentive to badminton player Priyanshu Rajawat for earning gold medal in Thomas Cup.
  • The Cabinet has approved the 'Resolution Plan' for recovery of mineral revenue dues in the Mineral Resources Department.
    • Under the scheme, the interest payable on mineral revenue arrears from 1960-61 to 2009-10 has been completely waived.
    • It was decided to waive the interest payable on outstanding amount up to Rs 5 lakh for the period from 2010-11 to 2019-20 and 18 percent rebate on interest payable on outstanding amounts above Rs 5 lakh. According to this, after giving exemption, recovery of rs 66 crore 48 lakh with interest against the principal outstanding amount of Rs 60 crore 7 lakh will be ensured.
    • The resolution plan will remain in force till October 31, 2022. If court suits are in operation against mineral arrears, the suit can be withdrawn on deposit of the amount in this scheme.
    • With the implementation of the scheme, the recovery of pending arrears from the year 1960-61 to the year 2019-20 will be ensured.
  • The Cabinet approved the draft to restore the Madhya Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) Amendment Bill, 2022.
    • According to the Amendment Bill, 2022, Prestige University Indore, Times University Bhopal, Dr. Preeti Global University Shivpuri and L.N.C.T. Vidyapeeth University Indore has been established.
    • Along with this, the draft of the bill was approved for the establishment of 3 other private universities: Amaltas University Dewas, Aryavart University Sehore and Vikrant University Gwalior.
  • It is noteworthy that in order to promote research and comprehensive study in the teaching field of Sanskrit language and its literature, Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Sansthan was established in 2008 through an Act for other subjects related to it to regulate Sanskrit education at the school level. It is headquartered in MP Nagar Bhopal.
