The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) State Service Exam (SSE) serves as the gateway to a prestigious administrative career in the state. This stage is designed to test candidates’ foundational knowledge across a wide array of subjects, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of their aptitude and awareness.

Information regarding MPSC SSE Prelims syllabus is provided below. 

Paper-I General Studies 

  • Current events of state, national and international importance.  
  • History of India and Indian National Movement with some weightage to Maharashtra.  
  • Maharashtra, India and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.  
  • India and Maharashtra - Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.  
  • Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.   
  • General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialisation.  
  • General Science.

Paper-II (General Aptitude Test) 

  • Comprehension   
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills.   
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability.   
  • Decision - making and problem - solving.  
  • General mental ability.   
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)   
  • Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level)
