The BPSC Syllabus for the Preliminary and Main Examinations covers a range of subjects. The Preliminary Exam includes General Studies with topics like General Science, Current Events, History, Geography, Polity, and General Mental Ability. 

The Main Exam consists of compulsory subjects such as General Hindi and General Studies, focusing on Modern History, Indian Culture, Polity, Economy, and Geography, along with an Optional Subject chosen from a variety of fields.

General Studies 

• General Science: Questions will cover general appreciation and understanding of science, including matters of everyday observation and experience. 
• Current Events: Focus on current events of significance on both a national and international level. 
• History of India: In History, the emphasis will be on a broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic, and political aspects. 
  • Broad aspects of the history of Bihar, including significant events, movements, and figures from Bihar’s past. 
• General Geography and Geographical Division of Bihar: Physical, social, and economic geography of India, with a focus on the major geographical features of Bihar, including its major river systems. 
  • Emphasis will be placed on understanding India's agricultural and natural resources, along with Bihar’s geographical features. 
• Indian Polity and Economy: India’s political system, including the Panchayati Raj, community development, and planning in India and Bihar. 
  • Major changes in Bihar's economy in the post-independence period. 
• Indian National Movement: Nature and character of the nineteenth-century resurgence, the growth of nationalism, the attainment of independence, and Bihar’s role in the Indian freedom movement. 
• General Mental Ability: Questions will test logical reasoning, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
