Villages Declared as “Lacking” in Rajasthan

Why in News
- The Rajasthan state government has declared 85 villages in 11 districts as “Lacking” on the basis of regular Girdawari reports of hailstorms in the year 2020-21.
Key Points
- According to Disaster Management Assistance and Civil Defense Department, one village from Alwar district, two from Barmer, four from Bikaner, nine from Bharatpur, two from Chittorgarh, two from Churu, nineteen of Hanumangarh, twenty eight from Jhunjhunu, eight from Kota, six from Sawai Madhopur and villages from Tonk district have been declared as “Lacking”.
- It is noteworthy that on the basis of reports of hailstorms during Rabi crops (2020-21) received from Alwar, Barmer, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Chittorgarh, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk, these 85 villages have been notified as “lacking” by the state government.
- This provision shall remain in force in such affected villages till 30th September, 2021 from the date of publication of this notification.
