Why In News?

According to the information received from the media on March 2, 2023, the Uttarakhand Government has approved the Uttarakhand Contract Labor (Regulation and Abolition) (Amendment) Rules, 2023.

Key points

• Under the Uttarakhand Contract Workers (Regulation and Redressal) (Amendment) Rules 2023, contractors providing services to workers in Uttarakhand and establishments availing the services of workers will now get a license from the Labor Department within 20 days.
• The new rules provide that if an online application for registration of establishments is made online with relevant records with proof of pre-determined fee on the official website of the Chief Employer, Labour Department and the officer 20 days, then it does not take a decision on that application within will be automatically considered registered.
