Why in News?
- Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government announced the Uttar Pradesh Textile and Apparel Policy with an aim to attract new investments and make Uttar Pradesh a hub of textile and apparel industry.
Key Point
- The Uttar Pradesh Textile and Apparel Policy was approved in a meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 13, 2022.
- Announcing the policy, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Rakesh Sachan said the policy is employment oriented and aims to attract fresh investment of Rs 10,000 crore and create over 5 lakh new jobs.
- The main objective of the new policy is to establish the State as a global level apparel manufacturing hub and sustainable development of all types of units related to textile industry such as handloom, powerloom, spinning, weaving, processing and apparel.
- Minister Rakesh Sachan said the textile and apparel policy has been formulated after consulting all stakeholders and taking care of their concerns. To make the policy investor friendly, several processes have been made online and a help desk has been set up for the convenience of investors.
