Why In News?
- On March 4, 2023, Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, at the 'Swachh Sujal Shakti' Award ceremony held at President Draupadi Murmu honoured two water warriors from Madhya Pradesh Anita Chaudhary and Ganga Rajput with the Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman-2023 for their outstanding contribution to water conservation. Apart from these, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat honoured village sarpanch Neetu Parihar with Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman-2023 for exemplary performance in the field of cleanliness.
Key points
- Anita Chaudhary, a water vendor from Chhindwara district, was awarded in the operations and maintenance category of piped water supply in the Jal Jeevan Mission. Due to his efforts, the village of Garhmau of the district has been declared Har-Ghar-Jal Gram.
- Ganga Rajput, the water warrior of Chhatarpur district, has been awarded under the National Water Mission. With his untiring efforts, he made a special contribution in making the women of village Bhoyra aware and dispelling folk misconceptions and bringing alive the Chandel Pond.
- Sarpanch Neetu Parihar of Gwalior district was awarded under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin. He has made extraordinary contribution in making Gram Panchayat Pura Banwar ODF plus Adarsh Gram.
- A total of 18 awards were given in different categories in the program under Jal Jeevan Mission, National Water Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin.
