'Swachhata Hi Seva' Campaign

Why In News?
- On September 15, 2022, Chhattisgarh Agriculture, Water Resources, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ravindra Choubey formally launched the statewide 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign in a program organized at his residence office.
Key Points
- On this occasion, Minister Ravindra Choubey flagged off the Swachhta Rath for public awareness in the state. This Swachhata Rath will visit Haat-bazaars and villages from 15th September to 2nd October to make people aware about cleanliness in the state.
- It is worth mentioning that like every year, this year also 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign is being run in the entire state from 15th September to 2nd October, 2022. Its objective is to bring public awareness about cleanliness in villages.
- Under the Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan, from September 15 to October 2, 2022, the garbage collected in all the villages will be cleaned through shramdaan. Under this, collective shramdaan will be done for cleaning public places, construction of soak pit, construction of compost pit, plastic waste collection, door to door garbage collection, participation by local public representatives, officials and villagers will be ensured.
- It is worth mentioning that under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin Phase-II, 1,14,871 individual toilets, 9382 community toilets, 302 biogas plants and 2 physical sludge management systems have been established in the state. At the same time, waste management has been done in 5135 villages and liquid waste management in 6872 villages, due to which 4193 villages have become ODF plus so far. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, the target is to make 8000 villages ODF this year.
- Under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, various activities will be organized from the district headquarters to the villages and action will also be taken to declare the villages which have come under the ODF plus category as ODF plus.
