Why In News?
- On 26 April 2022, the Labor Superintendent of West Singhbhum district launched the State's second Safe and Responsible Migration Center (SRMC) in the district for safe and responsible migration of migrant workers.
Key Points
- It is noteworthy that the first SRMC center of the state was launched in Gumla on April 20, 2022. Apart from Gumla and West Singhbhum districts, SRMI (Safe and Responsible Migration Initiative) center will soon be set up in Dumka.
- This center of West Singhbhum district will function under the supervision of the District Labor Superintendent and Employment Officer under the aegis of the District Labor and Employment Office in the form of District Level Support Cell.
- Through this, work will be done in the direction of identification of inter-state migrants and their families in West Singhbhum, so that social security of such workers can be ensured.
- Along with this, the facility of registration of workers will also be provided at the centre. It is also planned to organize camps for them from time to time.
- It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Hemant Soren had launched the Safe and Responsible Migration Initiative (SRMI) in December 2021.
