State's Largest Wildlife Rescue Center to be Built in Corbett

Recently, Director of Corbett National Park, Rahul said that the wildlife rescue center being developed in a 30 hectare area in Dhela zone of Corbett National Park will be the biggest center of its kind in the state.
Key Points
- A staff of 30 people including veterinary surgeons, physicians and anesthesia experts will work at this center.
- Part of the center built so far is already being used to treat tigers, leopards and elephants, while after completion the center will also be able to treat bears, snakes, birds and other wildlife. Presently this center is being used for the treatment of five leopards and two tigers.
- The director of Corbett National Park said that the plan to set up this wildlife rescue center was announced in 2019 after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- The total cost of the project is about Rs 19 crore, out of which about Rs 10 crore has been spent so far.
