- According to information, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Sonali Ghosh took charge as Field Director of KNP on 1 September. With this, Sonali has become the first woman officer to take charge as the director of the 118-year-old KNP.
- It is worth mentioning that the Assam government had already issued an order to appoint Sonali Ghosh as forest chief. The Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer took over the charge of the park from Jatindra Sharma, the current field director. Jatindra Sharma retired on 31 August.
- Prior to becoming Director, Sonali Ghosh was serving as Chief Conservator of Forests, Research Education and Action Planning Division in the office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Guwahati.
