Why in News?
Recently, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, administrative approval has been given for the estimate of Rs 484.35 crore for the Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme for providing irrigation facilities in four blocks of Deoghar and Jamtara districts.

- In the meeting of the cabinet, administrative approval was given for providing irrigation facilities through underground pipelines in the parts of Sarath, Karo, Vidyasagar and Jamtara blocks of Deoghar and Jamtara districts.
- Under the Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme, cycle wise irrigation facilities will be provided in the irrigated area through a pipeline from the pump motor from Ajay Barrage Upstream located near Sikatiya village.
- This scheme will be completed in three years, as a result of which 13,164 hectare area of 24 panchayats of the respective blocks will get a kharif irrigation facility.
- Along with this, in case the requirement of water in the fields is limited due to excessive rainfall during any period, the water can be diverted and filled to the nearby reservoirs, so that water supply through ponds to the villagers for cattle and other works. can be done.
