Why in News?
- On May 11, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a review meeting to review the works of Shri Mahakal Maharaj Temple Complex Expansion Project, directed to complete the works of the first phase of the project by May 20.
Key Points
- Chief Minister directed to complete the works with more than 90 percent but less than 100 percent physical progress in a week.
- Presently the works of Narsinghghat pumping station and pipeline (Kshipra river to Rudrasagar), sewer line in Rudrasagar catchment area, attractive lighting and sound system for Shri Mahakaleshwar temple complex have been completed.
- Significantly, the Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain is one of the 12 famous Jyotirlingas in India. Under the Shri Mahakal Maharaj Temple Complex Expansion Project, the expansion of the complex and other work is being done. After the expansion, the temple area will increase by eight times to 23.05 hectares.
