Sewerage Treatment Plants To Be Set Up In Hospitals

Why in News?
- On October 18, 2022, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved a budget of Rs 20 crore for the sewerage treatment plant to be built for the disposal of liquid and solid waste of hospitals.
Key Point
- With this approval of Chief Minister Gehlot, sewerage treatment plants will be established in major hospitals of the state, RUHS, SMS Hospital, Janana Hospital, Women's Hospital Jaipur, Mahatma Gandhi Hospital Jodhpur, PBM Hospital Bikaner and Medical College Kota and liquid and solid waste of hospitals can be disposed of.
- These environmentally necessary sewerage treatment plants will be constructed by RUIDP. 50 percent of the cost for the construction of the plant will be borne by the Medical Education Department and 50 percent by the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board.
- It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced in the budget to set up sewerage treatment plants in major hospitals of the state to dispose of liquid and solid waste while taking an important initiative towards preventing environmental pollution in the state.
