On January 4, 2023, President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the 18th National Scouts and Guides Jamboree at Roht in Pali district of Rajasthan.
Key Points
- The 18th National Scouts and Guides Jamboree was attended by more than 37,000 scouts and guides from different countries including India, Ghana, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal.
- Speaking at the event, President Draupadi Murmu said that there is a confluence of tremendous enthusiasm and energy in this conference of youth. This gathering of youth is a mini young India. Scouts work for humanity and social service with their whole heart and soul. It is a matter of pride that the largest number of scouts in the entire country are from the land of Rajasthan, symbolizing courage and valour.
- He informed that Bharat scouts and guides organization has been working to train the youth for about 115 years. Even before independence, many others, including Mahatma Gandhi, were admirers of this organization.
- The work that this country's largest organization does for character building is amazing. There are more than 63 lakh scouts and guides in this organization.
- Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that there are more than 12 lakh scouts and guides in the state. He has played an important role in Covid management by acting like a disciplined soldier.
- A Jamboree souvenir, special cover and Jamboree magazine were also released by President Draupadi Murmu on the occasion. A cultural program on the theme of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' was organized on the occasion.
