Policy to Create Land Banks

Why in News
- On August 5, 2021, the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal approved the government's policy to create a land bank in the state, avoiding the difficult process of land acquisition for government projects.
Key Points
- This policy may be called the Policy for Creating Land Bank for the Government Department including Boards and Corporations and disposal thereof for development projects.
- For this policy, three committees, Land and Rate Inquiry Committee, Land Bank Committee and High Powered Land Bank Committee will be constituted.
- According to this policy, now other people including farmers will be able to sell their land directly to the government by bargaining and not under compulsion. The revenue department will handle this land bank and transfer it to corporations, boards or departments as needed.
- To sell the land, the farmer will have to apply on the online portal of the Director of Land Records. For this, they will have to give full details of the land along with the value.
- Under the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973 and the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, there is a provision to transfer the immovable property to the state government. In such a situation, such land will also be searched.
