PM Prasad will be the New Chairman of Coal India

Why in News?
On 3 May 2023, an interview was conducted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) for the new Chairman (Chairman cum Managing Director) of the country's public sector Coal India, in which, after interviewing a total of seven shortlisted candidates, the board has recommended the selection of PM Prasad for the post.
Key Points
- It is known that P.M. Prasad is currently the CMD of CCL (Central Coalfield Limited).
- P.M. Prasad was also Director Technical in NCL.
- In 2015, he became the Executive Director of NTPC. In August 2019, he became the CMD of BCCL, Dhanbad. He was transferred to CCL on 1 September 2020.
- Pramod Kumar Agarwal (IAS), the current 28th chairman of Coal India, is retiring on 30 June 2023. A total of seven officers have held the post of Chairman of Coal India so far, including Pramod Kumar Agarwal, the present Chairman of Coal India.
- P.M. Prasad is a Mining Engineer from Osmania University. He did his M.Tech in 'Open-cast Mining' from the Indian School of Mines (IIT-ISM), Dhanbad.
- In 1988, he obtained First Class Mines Manager Certificate from DGMS and also obtained a law degree from Nagpur University in 1997.
