- On December 28, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the completed section of the Kanpur Metro Rail project in the metropolis of Kanpur and took a metro ride with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

- The Prime Minister, accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, traveled by the new Kanpur Metro train to inspect the 9 km long stretch from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel.
- The metro rail project in Kanpur has a total length of 32 km and is being built at a cost of over Rs 11,000 crore.
- During his visit to Kanpur, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Bina-Panki multi-product pipeline laid at a cost of over Rs 1,500 crore. The 356 km long project has a capacity of about 3.45 million metric tonnes per annum. The project, spanning from Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh to Panki in Kanpur Nagar, will help in transportation of petroleum products from Bina Refinery in the region.
