- On September 14, 2021, 17 proposals were approved by the Jharkhand cabinet, in which important proposals like levying toll tax on-road vehicles in mining areas in addition to building a solar city in Giridih were approved.

- Jharkhand's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has approved Rs. 80.75 crore, selecting Giridih as a solar city.
- The share of the Center and the states in this project will be 40 and 60 percent respectively.
- A grant of Rs 3.75 crore has been sanctioned to the state's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
- Under this, there is a provision to give 100% subsidy to the families having annual income up to Rs. 3 lakh.
- Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Deoghar have been selected to be developed as solar cities in the second phase.
