On-Demand Multi-Language Teaching Online Course Launched by School Education Minister

Why In News?

  • On February 21, 2023, Chhattisgarh School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam launched an online course for online demand multi-language teaching for district and development block level officers on International Mother Language Day.

  • Apart from this, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam released reading material for teachers to impart multi-language teaching to children based on linguistic survey in the state. He also launched an on-demand capacity building programme for teachers to use podcasts to tell stories to children in their local language.
  • It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced to provide education to school children in their local language in the state, on the basis of which various works have been started on mother tongue teaching, its benefits are being given to the children of tribal areas in the state.
  • Chhattisgarh is the first state where linguistic survey work has also been completed in collaboration with Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) and UNICEF. In such a situation, now when the local language has to be used in the classes to teach the children, an online course has been started for the officers of the School Education Department.
  • Chhattisgarh is the first state to conduct a linguistic survey based on the language spoken by children. The reference material has been prepared by Samagra Shiksha to understand this report and to bring necessary improvements in teaching methods by informing teachers in schools on various issues related to multilingualism. This material will be made available to the teachers at primary schools.
  • At present, a discussion paper is published every month in the form of a podcast by a team of teachers in the state, which the teachers listen to with great interest and try to implement the things said in it in their respective classes.
  • In this series, some expert teachers, some local language expert teachers and some external organizations who want to cooperate in this work, together with various local stories, making podcasts on them, sharing print versions of some of the stories selected later will be done with this team.
  • A team of interested people for this work will be formed through social media. These podcasts can be used by teachers in schools using mobiles, speakers available in primary schools, etc. By listening to this podcast, children will be able to be proud to know their culture, history and traditions.
  • for demand and support based on technical support in podcast creation, requirement of equipment for use in classrooms It is also proposed to be uploaded on 'Vidyaanjali' portal.
