Why In News?
- On October 29, 2022, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the names of all symbols of colonialism, that is, slavery, would be changed in the state.

- He said that the roads and cities in Uttarakhand whose names are of British era will be changed.
- It is known that after prime minister Narendra Modi came to power, all the symbols of colonialism are being changed in the country and on the lines of these, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also changed the names of many places in his state.
- It is worth noting that a few days ago, Prime Minister Modi had inaugurated the ' Kartavya Path' along with unveiling the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the national capital Delhi. The Kartavya Path' was earlier called 'Rajpath'.
