Why in News? 

The Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture launched the Naksha Programme for Land Survey of Urban Settlements in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. 

 Key Points  

  • About the program:  
  • Objective: 
    • The aim of this initiative is to overhaul the urban land records system and develop a comprehensive land management system based on accurate geospatial data. 
  • This initiative is going to: 
    • Make life easier for citizens. 
    • Improve urban planning for better city development. 
    • Reduce land disputes by ensuring clear property records. 
    • Enhance transparency, efficiency, and sustainability with an IT-based property record system. 

 Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) 

  • Introduction:  
    • The Central Government approved the National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) on 21 August 2008 to modernize the land records system in the country , which was relaunched in the year 2016 and renamed as Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP ) . 
    • It is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% funding by the Centre .  
  • Objective: 
    • Introduction of a system for updated land records, automated and automated mutation, integration between text and spatial records, inter-connection between revenue and registration, replacement of the current deed registration and presumptive title system with conclusive title with title guarantee.
