Why in News?
The Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture launched the Naksha Programme for Land Survey of Urban Settlements in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh.
Key Points
- About the program:
- "NAKSHA" (National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations) program has been launched under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP) .
- Under this initiative, a pilot project will be run in 152 cities, including 10 towns in 9 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
- Objective:
- The aim of this initiative is to overhaul the urban land records system and develop a comprehensive land management system based on accurate geospatial data.
- This initiative is going to:
- Make life easier for citizens.
- Improve urban planning for better city development.
- Reduce land disputes by ensuring clear property records.
- Enhance transparency, efficiency, and sustainability with an IT-based property record system.
Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP)
- Introduction:
- The Central Government approved the National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) on 21 August 2008 to modernize the land records system in the country , which was relaunched in the year 2016 and renamed as Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP ) .
- It is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% funding by the Centre .
- Objective:
- Introduction of a system for updated land records, automated and automated mutation, integration between text and spatial records, inter-connection between revenue and registration, replacement of the current deed registration and presumptive title system with conclusive title with title guarantee.
