Why In News?
On February 10, 2023, in the Khelo India Youth Games-2022, the Madhya Pradesh men's hockey team won the gold medal, while the women's hockey team won the silver medal by defeating Odisha, which is called the powerhouse of hockey, 3-2 in the final match.

- The Madhya Pradesh women's hockey team gave a tough fight to the Jharkhand team in the final. The girls of the state performed better and managed to equalize one-one, but in the penalty shoot-out, they could only score 3 goals against 4 and had to be satisfied with the silver medal.
- The final of men's and women's hockey competitions was played at MP Hockey Academy, Gwalior.
- In the men's section, Punjab defeated Jharkhand 2-0 to win the bronze medal, while in the women's category, Haryana defeated Odisha 1-0 to win the bronze medal.
- Madhya Pradesh is third in the medal tally in the Khelo India Youth Games-2022.
