On 7 June 2023, Preeti Lakda from Jharkhand won a bronze medal at the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) National Athletics Championships held in Bhopal.
Key Points:
- Preeti Lakra has won this medal in the triple jump event with a jump of 11.59 meters.
- It is known that Preeti is a trainee athlete of the Jharkhand Government's Residential Training Center (Hazaribagh). In the same year, she also won a silver medal in the Junior Federation Cup.
- The School Games Federation of India, recognised by the Sports Ministry and the Indian Olympic Association, was established in the year 1954. It is also an active member of the International School Sports Federation and the Asian School Sports Federation.
- This organization works towards the development and promotion of sports in schools in India. In this, talented players interested in different sports from schools across the country are selected and given a proper platform.
