Inauguration and Foundation Stone Laying of Development Projects

Why in News?
- On July 7, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth more than Rs 1800 crore in a program organized at Dr. Sampoornanand Sports Stadium in Sigra, Varanasi.
Key Points
- During the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated projects worth over Rs 590 crore. These include several initiatives under Varanasi Smart City and Urban Projects.
- Similarly, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 1200 crore. These include various projects related to road infrastructure. These projects will go a long way in reducing the traffic load on city and rural roads.
- With a view to promote tourism in the region, the Prime Minister undertook the World Bank-aided 'Uttar Pradesh Pro-Poor Tourism Development Project', development work of Sarnath Buddhist Circuit, construction of wind path for Ashtavinayak, Dwadash Jyotirling Yatra, Ashtabhairav, Navgauri. He laid the foundation stone of various projects including tourism development work of five stops in the Yatra, Panchkosi Parikrama Yatra route and tourism development work in various wards in Old Kashi.
- Apart from this, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the first phase of redevelopment works of the Sports Stadium at Sigra.
