Why In News?
On December 15, 2022 union minister of state for civil aviation V K Singh replied to a question by BJP MP Brijendra Singh from Hisar in Parliament that there is no proposal to start international flights from Hisar at present. Maharaja Agrasen Airport will not become international yet.
Key Points
- The Union Minister informed that the Chandigarh route was started on January 14, 2021 . After this, the route from Hisar to Dehradun was started on February 2, 2021. A three-seater airline was also launched.
- The minister said that the construction of international airports depends on air traffic, airline demand, air special agreement, ground landing facility, runway length, immigration, health and animal service. Such a possibility is not at the moment at the airport.
- At the same time, the Urban Local Bodies Minister of the Haryana Government said that an international airport will be built here. They are being built with this thinking. Gradually, all the standards that are required for an international level airport are being met. The reply given in Parliament has been given on the basis of current data.
- 7200 acres of land has been transferred to Civil Aviation for Hisar Airport. The estimated expenditure has increased to Rs 245.15 crore. The deadline for the second phase has been extended to March 31, 2023, from October 2022 earlier. Construction of runway length to 10,000 feet, night landing facility, construction of hangar, boundary wall is going on.
