Why In News?
On February 5, 2022, the grand inauguration of Maghi Punni Mela in Rajim, known as Prayag of Chhattisgarh, took place in the chief hospitality of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. This fair will continue till February 18 (Mahashivratri).
Key points
- On Magh Purnima, devotees took a holy bath of Maghi Punni at Triveni sangam beach in Rajim. People from all over the country and every corner of the state reached to bathe and took a holy bath by taking a dip in the Ganges Ghat.
- It is noteworthy that this Chitrotpala Ganga (Mahanadi), Parry and Sondur rivers in Rajim, which is called Prayag of Chhattisgarh Maghi Punni Fair is held for centuries at the holy Triveni Confluence of, which lasts from Maghi Purnima to Mahashivaratri.
- The day of Maghi Purnima is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Shri Rajiv Lochan. To commemorate this, a fair has been held in this holy land of Rajim for centuries.
- In this fair, which will continue till February 18 (Mahashivratri), famous artists of Chhattisgarh will present their art every day under the cultural evening.
