Gift of Millet from the Women of Bastar to the First Lady who Came to G-20

Why In News?
According to the information given by the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on September 10, 2023, the heads of state and their wives who came to the G-20 were given laddus made of Bastar millet, especially ragi.

- First ladies and spouses of participating heads of G-20 countries were given a special invitation to an agricultural exhibition at the IARI complex on Pusa Road on 9 September.
- Sangeeta Kashyap, who came from Bastanar block of Bastar district, said that she had prepared dishes prepared from millet like millet laddu, ragi cookies, ragi chakli, kodo-kutki etc. He gifted a basket of dishes made from millet to the First Lady of Australia. The women of Bastar also invited the First Lady to visit Bastar.
- Rukmani Kottam, nodal officer of Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department, said that in the stall set up by Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department in Pusa, products made from bamboo like Supa, Tukni, Basket, Tuma, Chhatri as well as products made from millet were kept. Chhattisgarh's Dhokrakala and Kosa stalls made from natural dyes were also a center of special attraction for the visitors.
- Nirmala Bhaskar of the women's group of Gotul Munda village of Durgkondal block of Kanker gifted a basket of millet to the First Lady of New Zealand. This basket contained millet products prepared by a women's group of Chhattisgarh.
