Recently, a team of five students from the Physics Department of HNB Garhwal University has been selected for the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) supported Space Formation Advisory Council asteroid search mission conducted by the International Astronomical Research Collaboration.

- This NASA program is being conducted from November 1 to 26, in which Sanjeev Kumar and Karan Singh (Research Students in Physics), Mahavir Prasad and Shivani Kulsari (Master Students in Physics) and Praveen Kumar (Graduate Students - PCM Group) Senior Under the supervision of physicist Alok Sagar Gautam, he is participating in the search for main-belt asteroids and near-Earth objects.
- Asteroids are small celestial bodies found in the interior of our solar system. They are found revolving around the Sun. Their size is much smaller than normal planets and they do not exhibit all the characteristics of the definition of a planet, which is why they are named asteroids.
