On 8 November 2021, President Ram Nath Kovind honored 4 persons from Madhya Pradesh with the Padma Shri award for the year 2020.
Key Points
- Dr. Purushottam Dadhich, an 83-year-old Kathak dancer from Indore, has been honored with the Padma Shri award for his outstanding contribution in the field of art (classical dance).
- At the same time, Abdul Jabbar, an activist who fought for the victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy-1984, has been given the Padma Shri award posthumously.
- Industrialist Dr. Nemnath Jain has been awarded Padma Shri for his outstanding work in the field of trade and industry.
- Dr. Leela Joshi, a gynecologist resident of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, has been awarded the Padma Shri award for her outstanding work in the field of medicine at the age of 82. She is also known as 'Mother Teresa' of Madhya Pradesh.
- A total of 141 people were selected for the Padma Awards for the year 2020, out of which 7 people were selected for Padma Vibhushan, 16 for Padma Bhushan and 118 for Padma Shri.
